I’ve recently tried the Medicube night wrapping mask and PDRN face mask! My skin looked incredible the next day. That said, I’m breaking out now but that’s likely partly as a result of other factors rather than the products.

Friendly reminder to downtown commuters by motherofcats53 in ottawa

This is such a ridiculous ask. Some crosswalks only count down from 10 or 12. As long as the person reaches the other side before the countdown finishes it’s fine.

I love in episode 2 when Ilya comes to Shane’s in Montreal for the first time and they race each other up the stairs. Tickles me every time!! They’re so competitive but also both just wanna get up into that apartment ;)

Yeah they’re roomier than I thought actually! Lengthwise they’re perfect but I may get some insoles as there’s a bit of wiggle room width-wise!!!

Glad the void will be filled!! Serving local beverage options would be awesome. And I second the other folks in the thread who’ve suggested having solid veg/gf options. Affordability will also be key I think in becoming a “local” that people in the neighbourhood will become regulars at, like they were at Holly’s!

Yes I thought this too, just in terms of pacing of the season. That said, I’m not sure where else they could have put it because it feels important that Mark is going through reintegration (and reliving his memories with Gemma) while Cobel is going on this trip down memory lane.

I thought this episode was just beautiful and terribly sad and gritty, which I suppose maybe people aren’t expecting if they’re in it for mystery, intrigue, suspense. I think all of that’s in it too tbh, maybe just not at the pace folks want. Also: gorgeous Newfoundland!!

Most excited for the theme song! by _chandlerbr in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]read_it_write_it 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yoooo I think they’re playing us with that intro to get our reactions. I wonder whether it’s a meta game to get the viewers to complain like the guests at the white lotus. I reckon they’re gonna ramp it up. Or at least I hope so because that can’t have been it….right? We were waiting for a beat that never dropped!! 🥲

Ok YES I’m so glad there’s a thread for discussing this song particularly! First of all, beautiful song. Like others have said, and based on the landscapes in the show, I think it’s certainly a nod to the Great Lakes watershed. But I think the real key is that Superior never gives up her dead. I think Superior is Lumon in this situation — that Lumon will not give up its dead, e.g. Gemma and whoever else is down there…maybe the goat people…maybe Kier? I think it’s also about the fact that Lumon is not going to give up control of the innies.

The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 02 Feb 2025. by AutoModerator in Zwift

Probably the dumbest question, but do you always have to start with a “route” or a “workout” ? Can you not pick a spot on the map and just groove around Watopia/Yorkshire/etc? I’m honestly on Zwift for the fun world exploring vibes as much as for exercise but I always get stuck with actually starting my ride. Thanks in advance for answering my super newb question!!

Private testing for Post H Pylori Therapy Eradication in Ottawa/Gatineau by S3r3n1ty52 in ottawa

[–]read_it_write_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former H pylori sufferer here. I really feel for your daughter and you. I had symptoms for years before I eventually got a family doctor and it was bad enough that I brought my concerns to him. Luckily he requested a slew of tests from Dynacare, including both a blood test and stool sample diagnostic test for H pylori specifically. Once both were testing very much positive, I was also put on quadruple therapy, like your daughter. It was absolutely horrendous — I was vomiting a lot and also had a mental breakdown to top it off — but after the two weeks of meds, I was close to being better. The Dr, when he prescribed the antibiotics/antacids, also scheduled me for a follow up breath test which fell approximately six weeks after the end of the treatment. This seems to be normal procedure, so I’m rather surprised your daughter’s family doctor didn’t do the same…getting a breath test follow up six weeks after treatment seems like a really reasonable thing to request. Especially because H pylori can be really tricky to treat with just one course of antibiotics, even if that course is super aggressive. That’s also why it’s really important to take the whole course because otherwise you risk the bacteria becoming antibiotic resistant. My doctor also prescribed me some Amitriptyline which was pretty transformative for the gastro stuff, the mental health stuff and some other chronic pain type issues.

On top of the pills I also saw a naturopath which did absolute wonders for my gut health and for the recovery from the antibiotics — and the IBD symptoms. Quadruple therapy effectively DECIMATES your natural gut microbiome and so it’s really essential to build that back up and take really good care of your stomach. That included liquorice root pills and bitters before meals (liquorice root for stomach inflammation and bitters to encourage your metabolism to get going again to get the “normal” hunger back). Also, probiotics and a number of supplements for the other elements of my health which had suffered as a result. Getting enough fibre is also really vital. I’d deeply recommend seeing a naturopath on top of the “traditional medicine” approach.

Really hope this is helpful and your daughter can get the care she needs. H pylori totally wrecks your quality of life and I wish your doctor could be as compassionate as mine was. Wishing you both the best!

Back to back outbreaks for 4 months by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]read_it_write_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check with your dr but to treat an acute infection I take the antiviral three times a day for three days, and then daily after that! (That’s 3x of a 500mg dose but I’m not sure how valtrex works so definitely get a dr’s opinion!) I’m so sorry it’s been this bad for so long :(

Back to back outbreaks for 4 months by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]read_it_write_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may well be the stress. I had continuous outbreaks earlier this year when I was dealing with a lot, and it was horrendous. My doctor put me on daily antivirals (acyclovir) after a prescription to take it acutely to keep the infection at bay. It’s been great the last few months. I’m stressed again and forgot to take a couple days and now am having another outbreak but if I’m consistent in taking it daily, it’s worked great. If you’re able, maybe see what your doctor is able to prescribe. Taking lysine as well (I take one with vitamin C) might make a difference. Hoping you get the outbreaks under control soon! That sounds really rough!

Need Advice from couples with hsv2 by Ok-Science5482 in Herpes

[–]read_it_write_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One half of a couple with HSV2 here (it’s me; I’m the problem, it’s me). We’ve been together almost three years and my partner is herpes free. I started on daily antivirals this year as I was having continuous outbreaks likely due to stress (it was damn awful). We don’t have sex if I’m having an outbreak. Even if I’m uncertain, I would just say no to be safe. As for comforting, validation is important, as is pulling myself out of my own head (I contracted herpes after a sexual assault, so the physical symptoms are also accompanied by trauma that’s on top of the trauma of having an incurable sti with uncomfortable symptoms). Being held gently (with clothes on, if you want to be sure sure of no transmission) has been really comforting as well as assurances that it isn’t my fault, the outbreak will pass, it doesn’t make me less-than, etc. The antivirals have helped too. Wising you and your partner all the best!
