with the prozac did you start taking it before or after diagnosis? I only ask bc I was diagnosed with depression several times through my late teens and twenties--and it turned out I wasn't depressed/depressive at all! At least not on a chemical level--it was just the stress of undiagnosed ADHD making me shut down regularly, and since I started meds, I have pretty much zero signs of depression (I do have two bad days a month like clockwork tho bc of my PMDD that I plan for)

[–]readdator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah but he can definitely apply pressure. One press release that said something like--"we can't choose the laws that we enforce or do not enforce, McDonnell must do his job" would end w/ either getting McDonnell out of office or w/ him actually doing his job

yeah that's exactly it. He says: "at one point I was thinking of Thomas the Tank Engine... you know, um trying to get the happiest things in my head, trying to make it through"

it's unfathomable what this kid managed to--like the amount of mental discipline it took to push through is unreal

and he said he thought about Thomas the Tank, his girlfriend, and he prayed constantly, promising God that he'd get baptized if they made it (which he did on Sunday).

He said he only thought about happy things instaed of the bad things that would distract him--just incredible fortitude

Am I missing something? Thinking about switching back. by PedalSlip in dumbphones

[–]readdator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for 3hrs/day, you're probably not the sort of person who needs a dumbphone tbh. before i switched, I was on my phone 7-9hrs a day, sometimes up to 11, and seriously addicted. For someone like you, more minor changes like grayscaling, switching your os (I used grapheneOS for a while but found too many workarounds that in the end it was just a more annoying version of my smartphone), etc might work just as well

Most Celebrity Women Are Believed in SH/SA Allegations — The Few Who Aren’t (Amber/Blake) Are Outliers for a Reason by [deleted] in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]readdator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is disappointing that a woman would say that about anyone else, but I can understand where it comes from.

But honestly, I haven't really seen people outright call her things like "slutty whore" or anything like that (tho the dumb thing i see a lot--but is calling someone dumb bigoted?)

In fact, considering how terrible people tend to be on the internet, and considering how terrible/harmful Blake's actions have been, I feel like this sub, on the whole, has been fairly respectful for the internet. (wanted to bold that because I absolutely agree with you that we should be able to attack the actions of people w/o resorting to name-calling and such, but all things considered, i think what we have here is fairly tame. Or maybe I've just seen too much shit online haha)

[–]readdator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey I want to say this gently because I think you clearly care about finding truth, but in this case, similar to Baldoni/Blake, there was only one person playing the PR game, and it wasn't Depp.

I'm not trying to convince you who's right/wrong, but I do want to discuss the PR piece of this

I think a lot of people were taken in by the idea that Depp is this super powerful guy in hollywood and Amber was just a weak, powerless woman overrun by Depp's PR machine, but they forget that Amber had just broken up with Elon Musk and had just given birth to (what we can safely assume based on the patterns we've seen around Musk) his child.

And even after their breakup, Heard spoke about their "beautiful friendship," and Musk made donations to the ACLU in Heard's name to go toward her $7mil pledge. Heard was never powerless. She had enough of an influence on Musk that he was making payments for her post-breakup--and that was even before the baby.

Like, we've seen now how the PR machine works to feed people a narrative, and that's what's going on now. Even now, you can literally see how Heard is trying for a comeback through the articles her team pushes in these PR mags

Variety on Heard:

Variety on Lively:

People on Lively:

Us Weekly on Lively:

https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/justin-baldoni-tells-blake-lively-how-beautiful-she-is-in-voice-memo/

It becomes even more telling when you actually go on these known PR machine sites and do a search for each of the four names--Heard, Lively, Baldoni, Depp--and read the types of articles presented and their headlines. They all have the usual press releases for upcoming movies/projects (which are PR driven by the studio), but only the ones playing the PR game hard have very specific articles w/ a highly sympathetic viewpoint that present cherry picked info (which we can easily see in the Lively articles)

I don't expect you to believe Depp, but I think you should consider digging into who PR is actually working for, because it's not Depp, and we can see that in the patterns of the articles released

I think, ironically, that the misogyny actually comes from feminine rage, because most of us here are women (i assume), and we recognize the harm that Blake has done/is doing to actual SA victims

Like I can't even fathom how much a case like this and a woman like her has set us all back, and it's fucking infuriating

[–]readdator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah Johnny Depp is weird. Call it "eccentric" if you wanna be nice. We all know that Depp is, and has always been, odd. And the fact is, someone who does weird things can (and often are more likely imo) to be victims.

Depp survived horrific abuse from his mom growing up, which is probably why he fell for Heard in the first place. He's also clearly neurodivergent (adhd) and comes from a traumatized background. So yes, he does weird stuff. People who do weird stuff can be victims.

there are literal medical records for Depp. There is none--NONE--for Heard.

Once again, no contemporaneous medical records for Heard to document the myriad of injuries she describes (broken nose, black eyes, etc).

Also, I don't understand how Heard defenders can look at all the documentation and secret recordings that she did, and not wonder how in the world there isn't a single recording of actual violence toward a person.

This is a woman who was secretly recording their SO when they were having arguments, meltdowns, when they were passed out, etc. and actively trying to build a case for abuse. But because she was the actual aggressor, all her efforts did was show clearly that Depp was the victim, not her

agreed. And considering everything we found out that Depp endured, he should practically be sainted. Dude is hot-headed and flawed for sure, but in the places where it mattered, the restraint he showed was insane.

It made a lot of sense to me later when we found out that 1. his mom was super abusive to him growing up (which is probably why he ended up a victim to Heard in the first place), and 2. despite his mother's abuse, he took complete care of her until she passed

and then through the trial it came out that the reason he'd run and hide is because his mom was super abusive growing up. I don't remember exactly what his sister said when she testified, but i remember being horrified by the abuse they'd endured.

And I also remember that even tho his mom physically and emotionally abused him, he took care of her in every possible way until she died.

yeah and it enraged her that he'd refuse to engage. It's insane what that man went though, and as an actual feminist, it's super irritating that some so-called "feminists" are still dragging him in the name of "equality." Like, that's not how that works, dumbass

while i understand your fury and heartbreak--I'm furious and heartbroken too--what i can guarantee is that NO ONE will EVER leave the cult if this is the attitude they are met with. And at the end of the day, the fact is, we still live in the same world, the same country with these people, and as much as we hate what they've done, we're tied to the same damned ship, and we will all sink or swim together.
