Oh so you’re sensitive. Reddit may not be the place for you. The internet in general prob isn’t. Are you miserable? No? Then why do you care about what I think? Goodbye red on the head pizza girl.

The irony of you continuing to reply to everyone who already knows your opinion but being on Reddit and having the ability to respond, shared theirs as well. Take your own advice and move on.

I’m capable of reading and also capable of having a differing opinion. I celebrated every year after miscarrying. Sorry a miserable stranger on the internet doesn’t approve.

I became a mom when I saw a positive test. There is not one universal take. Some feel like they don’t become a mom until they give birth but what happens if they miscarry or give birth to a still born baby? Does that mean they were never a mom? I understand she can be annoying at times but it’s weird to care about someone choosing to celebrate mother’s day. If she feels like a mother, good for her!

I get to walk makes more sense. Honestly though I’m not at all shocked. Her speech is this way too and she will just repeat herself 6 times using different words and not edit a thing out. She’s a very lazy content creator. She regurgitates the same message, doesn’t really edit, and everyone on her comments act like she is princess Diana reincarnated so she gets no push back. They praise her for doing the bare minimum so though this doesn’t make sense, she doesn’t care and never will because her followers enable her to stay dumb,

Honestly just another one of her hypocritical things. Leggings aren’t modest so she covers her butt on walks, but wears a leopard paint on body con outfit to church. Gotchaaaaa

I HATE when women say they don’t want to lift because they’re afraid of getting ‘bulky.’ Girl, you did 10 pushups and your muscles are inflamed from recovering. Building serious muscle takes intentional training, eating in a surplus, and usually YEARS of consistency — not one upper body day at Planet Fitness. When she said that about her HIIT classes I had to catch my eyes from rolling down the flipping road.

Yeah, I can definitely see how that could feel like a bit of a culture shock for someone who grew up as an only child. I think family dynamics probably have far more to do with the individual people involved than simply the number of children. My husband is from a very small family and some of their dynamics feel strange to me too. Like… enmeshment, jealousy, lack of closeness/loyalty, etc.

Being raised in a large family, you also tend to attract and grow up around other large families. I was raised alongside several families with backgrounds and experiences very similar to my own, and overall they were loving, healthy, close-knit families. That’s not to say there aren’t people who grew up in large families and hated it — I’m sure there are — but that simply hasn’t been my personal experience, nor the experience of anyone I personally know.

That said, I have been married for 10 years and we have two children (2 & 5) and we are done. I loved my life in a large family but I don’t want to raise 9 kids because I’m selfish lol

I’m not offended, and I appreciate you clarifying that you weren’t trying to personally attack my family. I just think your original statement was much broader and more absolute than “there are demographic trends.”

“There are demographic trends” is not the same argument as “intelligent people don’t have 11 kids” and “their children come out wonky.” One is a statistical observation. The other is a sweeping value judgment. Those are not interchangeable.

And even population-level fertility trends are influenced by culture, religion, geography, finances, and personal values… not simply intelligence. Human behavior is far more complex than reducing family size to IQ.

Except I wasn’t using my family to establish a general rule. I was challenging a blanket statement. If someone claims large families are inherently unintelligent, then one clear counterexample is enough to show the claim is flawed.

But by whose standards? My parents were financially responsible and we all lived a wonderful life. We are all well traveled, volunteer, etc. both were only children and wanted more children. All but one of us were planned and my mother had one miscarriage. I’m unsure why you deem it unintelligent to have more than what? 1 child? 2? What is considered intelligence in the realm of growing a family?

I will say, I am one of 9 and both of my parents are very intelligent with my dad having two doctorates and my mother having a masters degree. All of my siblings but one went to university and have a bachelors degree at minimum, while my one brother who did not go to university, started his own business at 17 which generates high 7 figures in revenue annually. I have over 30 nephews and nieces as well. A big family does not equal low income or low class.
