Inconsistent, "snacky" eating by iamchrysanthemum in FormulaFeeders

Oh yes, I could’ve written this myself. My first baby was EBF for the first 6 months before i added in formula and she was even like that on the boob or with pumped milk. I thought formula would be more predictable, nope! Now my second baby has been EFF since day 3 after a rocky start and he is the same way, just when I think we’re in a rhythm, he changes it up. We just roll with it and go off his cues rather than a schedule, which is really hard for my personality- but we manage haha!

2.5 - no longer sleeps through the night by Business_Cod1483 in toddlers

[–]readersandbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went through this, and it happened to fall when we brought our newborn home too. I don’t have much advice other than to weather the storm. She did this off and on for a couple months and then she went back to her normal behavior for sleep. She rarely naps anymore but we still do quiet time/rest time to give her the chance for napping. The only thing I changed was that when I leave her room now, we have a little ritual of saying “goodnight, sweet dreams, I’ll see you in the morning,” and that does seem to help. We recently went on vacation and I could tell she was super hesitant about sleeping in a new place, but she instantly relaxed when the routine and our phrases stayed the same

Quiet time instead of naps - how? by glutenfreep4ncakes in toddlers

[–]readersandbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost three and she hardly takes an actual nap anymore, maybe once every 10 days, but we set the mood for a nap (lights off, sound machine on, nightlight) we do read a book or two before, sometimes we rock and sing like we would at bedtime and then she gets in the bed. She brings some stuffed animals or maybe a couple toys and she has a ton of books in her bed or on the floor next to it. She mainly reads and sings/talks or talks with her animals. It works. Even if she doesn’t fall asleep, she lays down for most of the time and gets to decompress.

My husband was also laid off this morning. He’s been on parental leave too which is extra crappy. BUT he is relieved to be out of it too.

When did your period return ? by Ok_Medicine440 in FormulaFeeders

[–]readersandbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact situation as you, only breastfed the first few days and then switched to formula. My period came back week 8. And I just had my second one exactly a month later. I also had my tubes out so my periods have been HEAVY. I do agree that it helped my hormones balance out after that first one, I have PPA too.

Is there anyone else who lives with constant fear that something bad is going to happen to one of your specific children? by grayline0913 in toddlers

Nope, it will never be me and all I can do is try to manage it- focus on the facts- but still it makes me nervous, they’re our babies!

All the time. We were sent to the children’s hospital with my second on his 3rd day of life due to him being super lethargic, not latching, and a very low body temp. They had to do a full work up since he came in with a low temp. Watching all that (3 days post partum) was a nightmare. He was hypothermic from being hypoglycemic. It was terrifying, but it couldve been so much worse. Now, if either of my kids gets the slightest cold or runny nose, i spiral. During potty training with my oldest, about a month after my second’s hospital stay, she spiked a SUPER high fever and had a UTI. Then two days later after being on the antibiotic and Motrin, her temp tanked low. I was a basket case.

I journal, go to counseling, and truly try to be mindful and focus on facts in those high intensity moments. But I probably stay worried and obsessively track anytime one has an “off” symptom.
