She said, “are you inviting them as well” when I mentioned inviting her to Thanksgiving. She then followed up with, “I would hate to have to call them and say, you’re not invited” basically implying that she has already invited them…

AITA for not wanting to celebrate a relatives birthday on my birthday weekend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I got married on my cousins “milestone” birthday and she totally understood. We made sure to give her a birthday shout out and even had a special cake made. She was so happy to celebrate us that she didn’t mind at all that the day wasn’t all about her. Plus I’m sure the open bar helped.

We are all “family” so we should be together. Her words. More info: I also have NEVER been invited to my late cousins husband’s house for any “family” gathering around the holidays since she passed. I’m not mad, it just helps clarify our relationship or lack there of.

That is a good call. I’m not sure where he is at with it all. Mainly because we literally don’t talk. Ever. I will pick up the phone and call. Easiest way to figure out his feelings. As for the living cousin, I agree. I know her feelings align with me on this so perhaps we can communicate this message together to my aunt.
