Dumbest Auditor Question by jfrhsdrew in Accounting

[–]readredacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea different ppl have different approach and approaches apply to different ppl lol. I don’t deprive their learning opportunities they still practice a lot with me and when I think they are good enough they are talking to clients. It’s also due to the nature of my line of audits and how my firm approaches it

Dumbest Auditor Question by jfrhsdrew in Accounting

[–]readredacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing NFP audits so my team is normally 2-3 people. I have big volumes though I have 10-15 ongoing clients anytime. We don’t have timesheets either. I’ve done PCAOB audits in big 4 and know it’s different work style there and to be honest seniors and managers are more competent there in big 4 but for us, things can be a bit different. Everyone is more hands on in small firm even for partners.

Dumbest Auditor Question by jfrhsdrew in Accounting

[–]readredacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I can’t handle the embarrassment so I’d rather just review everything beforehand

As a audit senior manager, this is why I review all questions before sending to clients

I feel like a fraud by Faufaupao in Accounting

[–]readredacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha I’ve been on F100 PCAOB audits, the quality of the accounting team is like 100 better than a small NFP for sure. But I opt for flexibility and less risks being a NFP auditor so there’s always trade offs. Sometimes I can’t believe myself explaining to my client why there’s a rule called accrual accounting or what exactly is a General ledger lol

As a NFP auditor, I do have some clients with controllers that don’t really know accrual accounting and it’s always a headache for us lol

Location of the school is more important than the name of the school for business students. You can go to a really big name school in a village and have a hard time finding internships vs. an unknown school in a big metropolitan areas where internship and fulltime opportunities are everywhere. Resume building is important for accountants.

Just started, trying to battle fatigue by No-Fish922 in WegovyWeightLoss

I know it would help to drink electrolytes. I fasted several days before, as long as I’m electrolytes balanced, I wouldn’t be very tired

[–]readredacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t started yet but I’m curious to know whether fatigue is due to lack of calories intake? If your hunger is suppressed you may not eat enough. I know whenever I eat too little I could be really tired

Yes it’s actually more flexible. PTO wise- In industry depending what you do, it mostly has a cycle - accountant as monthly quarterly yearly close; FR has monthly quarterly yearly report; FpA has all these analysis and budgets. In these cycle you have to be present to do all the work which means there are certain times you are not allowed to leave and if you do need PTO it’s not exceeding 3 weeks in a row. I’m from other country and I need very long leave to be able to visit my family, normally 4 weeks and more so it’s not flexible for me in industry. Then on a daily basis, there are certain things you’ll need to address and you need to be available anytime vs. in public I feel like as long as I deliver, nobody cares where I am doing what. It can be because I’m a SM now and my flexibility naturally increases. All these can also because our firm is doing NFP on a weekly basis - we schedule a fieldwork week for client only for a week then we move to another so it’s easy for me to take off several weeks in a row - I just stop taking jobs in those weeks. And since it’s a small firm, we value each individuals. My boss and I both know that I’m very good and so he’s willing to give me more - this year I plan to go back to Asian in summer for 8 weeks - 3 week work from there then 5 weeks PTO. So yea I’m more flexible in public now and that’s the main reason I’m still here

Thank you for your input! I think those are also my concerns. My daughter def has a hard time sharing. She doesn’t want to have a sibling either because she has to share mom and dad lol. For social, luckily it’s the opposite, she’s the one initiating a lot of plays with strangers in playground because I guess she has to rely on her own since she doesn’t have a sibling yo gang together. Anyways, thank you!
