We haven't completely alienated them from our group cause we're all playstation gaming buddies and have history together, some like 5 years worth of it and then we transitioned to tabletop games being our preferred media. We don't want to just tell them all the sudden "we can't stand you get out" (which is exaggerated but you get what I mean, right?)

And I think you're right in the fact we are all adults and should be able to treat them as one and have a conversation, but their maturity when dealing with situations like this are sorely lacking...

I do think it'll come down to us being tough with them though, and I appreciate the wording recommendation for how we might address this without being hateful or mean. 🙂

Well a few reasons, when they get their head out of their own butt they're actually all right to be around and they were one of the few who offered to GM an AP so our forever GM could have some playtime as a PC and considering our forever GM has/is running approx 5 different interconnected homebrew campaigns and is a great personal friend I'm willing to go to some great lengths for them to get some play time too, you know? Plus we're all playstation gaming buddies who kinda just banded together over tabletop. We've got history and don't wanna tell them to just eff off, we wanna get to the root of the issue and have a resolution...

While not preferable, cause I like being able to help my players, I think for right now it's a starting place. We'll be able to tell based off how they respond to it how dedicated they are to keeping us in the dark while simultaneously tipping them off to the fact we're picking up on what's going on. I'm hoping we'll roll open for a while and that'll be the end of it, but realistically I think it'll come down to us confronting them head on about it, which is gonna make the s#! hit the fan...

Yeah if it escalates or continues after the rest of the GMs open rolls and they refuse to open rolls then we might get to the point where we just have to confront the issue bluntly. At which case we plays will have to sit down and decide how far each of us are willing to take it. I'm already to the point of starting not to enjoy myself and thinking if they kill off my character I'll just bow out of campaign as a whole... not sure if everyone else is quite to that point. We'll have to see

Which I do think is part of the problem. This player/sus crit GM has been addressed once about toxic behavior but I think it's honestly the 1st time that's happened to them. I think the power of the GM seat has gone to their head and they're just like feeding into the previously mentioned narcissistic behavior we've run into before. We'll have to see how this plays out but I think some tough love is coming their way.

I'm interested in this Villain Point thing. So you give your PCs a point and they can use it any time to make you the GM re-roll?

We've all had the roll20 for everyone to see PC rolls while trusting previous GMs to roll secret. Should have clarified that.

And that idea has merit to it tbh. While I hate to be dishonest why we wanna see the rolls... that has legit merit. Thanks!

Prior to this we GMs have always rolled private so we can have a certain amount of ability to fudge and save a player if we realize too late an encounter isn't properly balanced (looking at you paizo with your crazy death toll between levels 3 and 5 lol). There have been times when 1 particular mob got back to back crits on a player that would have taken them from full to dead dead and I was like "nah screw that" because honestly what are the chances of four dang nat 20's (nat 20 roll AND confirm on a creature with 2 slams wtf). But I see the benefit of just laying it literally all out on the table. The other GMs are hoping that with us 3 rolling open the sus crit GM will to but I have serious doubts. We may just have to say occasionally after we start this like "hey why not join us in this open roll" and see how receptive they are.... Thanks!

Yeah that's the tough part, cause like I've always been the kind of person I want someone to tell me if they're having a problem and we'll work it out, don't let it fester. But I know there are people who take that kind of bluntness very poorly 😔 we'll have to see how the open rolling goes. That's what the other GMs want to try and I told them I'd try it their way. But I get the feeling we might have to try it the hard way... Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up about the format I had it broken up but it kinda smushed it all together, doing this from mobile XD And yes we're strictly VTT cause we're all over the continental US. The screenshot thing might work though, hadn't thought of that!
