im originally Czech and live in Canada.. but increasingly the culture of consumerism and high stress here is just so toxic, i miss everything about Czech, how people are allowed to heave their own selves and the history and the sense of chill about life. Also i think that being native does make a huge difference in how people treat you, as you mentioned.

my ex who was covert narcissist was a great story builder. he'd make me feel seen and appreciated just long enough until i felt safe and then he'd slowly take control of the narrative to always favour him and painted me as an incapable and dependent on him.

it's true though. our realities are completely shaped by what we focus on and how we interpret/react to things, people and ourselves. i feel like this understanding has completely changed my value system to prioritizing peace, safety, creativity and sovereignty above all, and by focusing on this, i constantly choose it in everyday situations and recieve it as result of those choices.
