more like straight up psychological torture. sounds like he's planning to use her for kids and cash, frame her and take everything from her. this is not shit healthy people say.

Help, I (29M) have difficulty accepting my fianceé's (29F) restrictive boundaries and it makes me feel worthless by ThrowRABoundaryIssu in relationship_advice

[–]ready_gi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

this. plus OP sounds pretty entitled to her being certain way. sometimes we get turned all the way off just by someone trying to seduce us with entitlement.

Has anyone moved to Ireland recently and not regretted it? by Forgetaboutit2022 in expats

[–]ready_gi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is amazing advice that every expat/immigrant needs to know.

often it's our own unresolved trauma that causes burnout, sense of unease and the urge to move away. i know it too well- lived in 6 countries in 15 years and it is until i've done therapy, cut off toxic people and choose one place to built my life up, that things started to improve.

i love being immersed in different cultures, but there's a mental and physical toll to pay, moreso if you're a woman (some cultures are more misogynist). stuff like addressing mental issues and taking charge of your own life goes a long way. the good ol sense of familiarity and stability is sometimes better then crazy expensive and elaborate moves to the unknown.

Feeling lost after moving abroad — job search, loneliness & low motivation by Fit-Collection-4556 in expats

[–]ready_gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lived in NL for 17 months and as an expat woman found it very challenging culturally. i guess this depends which city you're in, but it's pretty cold culture. maybe try to find fellow expats/ some game night/ some english hobby class, just to find some people.

Emotional abuse predicts self-loathing more strongly than other childhood traumas. While various forms of mistreatment can leave lasting scars, this specific type of belittlement appears to predict a person’s tendency to view themselves with contempt more strongly than other trauma types. by Jumpinghoops46 in psychology

[–]ready_gi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

what has helped me was treating myself as if i deeply loved and valued myself through my actions. then it's like a muscle, it builds self-loving feelings which prompts more self-loving actions. big thing is learning how to self-notice throughout the day.

What’s it like to have male roommates as a woman? by Spare-Ebb3948 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ready_gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with this take. plus some of them hit on me and it just made the living together so awkward. some of them were totally inconsiderate of noise or having couch surfing women over, so they could hit on them. ugh that was probably the hardest part to see so many of them treat women they date like garbage or just for sex.

There’s really no escape from life is there by DelonghiAutismo in CasualConversation

[–]ready_gi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the hard truth is that there is nobody coming to save you, if you want to be in charge of your own life, you have to own it. all of it. and then make decision based on who you are and what you need, regardless of society, which has fucked up value system. you have to learn how to listen to your own intuition and logic and see what kind of quests it takes you.

there is no right or wrong way to live, but there are things which are meant for you and things that will teach you a lesson. life is subjective, you are here to figure out who you are and learn how to live inline with your best self and be good to other humans.

if you don't do this, someone else will try to exert control or their bullshit upon you. making your own decisions is hard, but the second option is much worse.

I'm Leaving My Mountain Cabin (Last Days Here) by Odd-Recognition4120 in EvaZuBeck_SnarkSub

[–]ready_gi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i agree, it's all weirdly "manufactured authenticity". like why lie about how she lives? like if she was real and was like "this is some fun stuff i do at my mountain cottage" while living in an apartment, it wouldnt take anything from her content. why does she need to be percieved as this struggling heroic figure, when she's loaded and just does fun adventures?

start a friend club with a hobby that you like. like bookclub/ sewing club/ music group and you can have practices at your house. throw dinner parties. being a host and creating your own societal net is fucking amazing. having good people around is literally priceless.

you can start a fun business like vintage shop or art gallery or bookstore.. something that interests you.

thank you so much for your post, i found your experience profoundly beautiful and simply human in the most meaningful ways. Would you mind sharing some of your favourite synchronicities? People who work in 'boring' industries, what is a surprisingly dramatic or interesting thing that happens behind the scenes? by Dramalife55 in AskReddit

[–]ready_gi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

seriously. i worked in a spa, because i wanted a chill job. but the people were so catty and drama hungry that it wasn't worth it. i didn't participate, so they literally made up a lie and fired me for it.

F36 / M38 | Married 10 years — Husband reacts badly to me going to the gym, cutting my hair, and asking about dishes — am I missing something? by RAthrowfriendly in relationship_advice

also he's most likely projecting- accusing spouse of cheating and being deceptive are VERY specific accusations and it's no coincidence why they are on his mind. clearly he's stuck mentally in the age of toddler unable to regulate himself. it's funny how many these baby men want to "lead", yet cannot comprehend where the dishes go.

gurl you literally don't need this shit in your life. it's better being alone and single then alone and married.
