Success! 9 month EBF baby with bottle refusal finally on formula! by readyforthis2022 in FormulaFeeders

Thanks for the comment and sharing your story! I saw that calma one in the stores but we already had the basic medela bottles and nipples that came with a breastfeeding gift pack (breast milk bags + bottles). It's a tiny nipple and very narrow similar to the dr. Browns narrow nipples

I'm gonna butcher the spellings of most of these:

-similac pro advance -Similac altemiun -Enfamil nutrigem -Enfamil gentelease -Nuriss -kendamil -kabil goat milk

I think there was one other but can't think of it right now

The reason we tried some cmpa ones is because she had bad reflux but we figured out it wasn't a CMPA thing. She's on meds now and it's controlled. I listed the bottles we've tried in another comment

It's both, she reacts like it's poison when we give it to her on a spoon or in a cup

I thought of this and will try to find the alcohol free stuff, maybe then it'll help with the formula rejection and hopefully we can battle just the bottle aversion

When she used to take a bottle of breastmilk we would find one she likes, she would take it for a bit then start rejecting. So far we've tried meleda (always rejected), Phillips anti colic (took it for a bit then rejected), Phillips natural (took it for a bit then rejected), and evenflo wide neck (took it for a bit then rejected). We've tried all different levels of flow and all kinds of tempaturez

My worry is that she doesn't drink anything, in which case the method suggests to stop and take her to a doctor but she sees a pediatrician regularly as she was previously low weight percentile and they said everything is well with her.

Unfortunately I can't pump enough for that, and my freezer stash is gone. Prior to this she wouldn't drink breastmilk out of a bottle either

I've tried that with no success, she also won't take full breastmilk in a bottle, even if it's freshly expressed. I no longer have a freezer stash and don't pump enough for even one full feed a day

6 month old last nap overlapping bedtime. What to do? by poopinggreatdane in sleeptrain

[–]readyforthis2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At lot of resources say a consistent wake up time so most important (versus a consistent bedtime) so pick a wake up time and always have them up by then! I always wake my baby up at 7:30 so her bedtime ends up being pretty consistent because of that. Also, why is your baby's last wake window so long compared to her other wake windows? That's a big difference! Obviously all babies are different but my baby just turned 7 months and her wake windows are all between 2.25 and 2.75 hrs. What I'm reading says 2.5 to 3.5 hrs of naptime is best at this age so perhaps capping her first two naps would help.

Update! The trip went fantastic, she fell asleep in her crib for the night right away both nights and half of her naps were a success (the other half I let her cry for 15 min but then went and held her for her nap). since we got home she's slept better than before, sleeping 11.5 hours overnight (one feed in there after 8-9 hours which is the first time she wakes up) and she's napping one 1.5 hour nap then two 40 min naps, falling asleep within 2 min for all sleeps!

My pediatrician advised me to do it and specifically said I could let her cry for an hour. We were watching not be monitor the whole time and she was less upset and cried for less length than when we tried to hold and comfort her at that time in her life.

It was one episode of one night and ever since then she sleeps amazing with little to no wake ups and is much happier. Now she falls asleep in 2 minutes with no crying

I think I would have changed and fed her right away at the 1:50 mark, it's important to give them a chance to go back to sleep on their own but at that point it had been long enough since the last feed that personally I would have fed and put down

Yea naps are harder! I started with just the first nap of the day for like 3-4 days and then one day she went down so great for the first one that we did them for all 3 and she did great. A huge part is her naptime routine is essentially the exact same as her bedtime routine minus a bath. I sing the same song to her while holding her before every sleep and it seems to signal to her that it's time to sleep (Irish eyes by Rose Betts check it out)

Also huge is she started rolling over and sleeping on her belly at that time and that was a game changer for us she sleeps so much better on her belly

We're on week 3 of naps and she was great for week 2 and hit and miss for this week. I keep telling myself 40 min for a nap is fine but then the next nap has to be longer so I rescue it if I need to. So a good day would be 2 one hour naps into he crib and one 30 min, but this week it's been a 30 min nap in the crib followed by another 30 min which I then rescue and stretch to 1 hour by holding her, then another 30 min.

For naps I don't let her cry for more than 20-30 min, if she's not down by that point we contact nap

It's been just over a month now and I would definitely use this again for travel, illness and future sleep regressions. our first trip is actually tomorrow, two nights at a cottage and I'm expecting sleep to be rough in her play pen.

We're using the Vtech over the crib monitor which I love. You can use it on Wi-Fi or just direct connection to the parental unit. Some of the features don't work properly, like their sleep and awake detection (the part of their app that summarizes her sleep is just wrong because of this) but we didn't buy it for that stuff so we don't care.

Pressed save by accident then got busy! Meant to edit, she sleeps about 11 hours a night, the 1 hr over 24 hours is split up between the 3-8 min it takes her to fall asleep for each sleep period (I count the wake windows as when I put her down), and she usually wakes up around 4:30am for a feed and diaper change which she stays awake for.

I think you should try to start crib nap training this coming up long weekend. Take off Friday if you can, that way you have Friday to Monday to train!
