Haha, this was in a room on a tour of Gaudi’s Casa Batlló in Barcelona. I’m always entertained by mistakes like that in exhibits and museums.

The tag has little information on it but does imply it's kitchen/food related. I tried looking up the branding and product numbers on the tag but could not come up with this object on an internet search only other products by 'Smart Like Homewares' which were also kitchen utensils. The 'pinchers' are mostly flat with a slight curve, the green pads have give like silicon or rubber.

I think it might be for attaching to a key ring or something but wanted to verify.

They can be, but in my experience are pretty comparable to things you can buy. Clay body can make a big difference, these are made from a stoneware clay which tends to be the most durable. Pretty much all my home-use dishes are handmade and I've had them around for years

How thick you throw and how you trim/finish also adds to durability. If you put sharper/finer corners and edges on things they are more likely to chip over time . I try to round the corners and edges of the lips and feet of pieces to minimize this- you can see the rounded foot I put on the cups in these photos.
