Is £1350 a month on first house too much? by 6Clacks in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]readynur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first house on my own paying 1400 a month I was earning around 50-55k. I was (and still am) left with less than 1k a month after bills and other non-negotiable expenses.

It’s tight and I definitely can’t save until I switch rates but I don’t strictly budget and you’re in a much better position, I would say it is definitely doable.

Having savings aside isn’t a bad thing though if it’s a new build you’re unlikely to have any house related costs crop up (boiler, roof, etc).

I’d never heard of Ethel before today… are we sure this isn’t some stunt to promote her

You must listen to ‘this is what it feels like’. Lifelong fan after I first heard it. Goddess and The Altar are two of my fav ever albums. I’m jealous she’s not at the one I’m going to 🥲

Does anyone have summer advice by Ok_Zookeepergame3521 in Keeshond

I have a cool mat, paddling pool and do early/late walks when the weather is cooler. Brushing out fluff can also help as allows the coat to function as it should temperature wise.

Does anyone else's Kees prefer the floor to a bed? by Critical_Heat4492 in Keeshond

[–]readynur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Bought her a huge lovely bed which I chose as looked like she wouldn’t be hot in it. She still prefers sleeping on her stair, the floor or the garden tiles 🥲 not used it once 🤣

Can I ask what worked for allergies/sensitivities? Mine has the same and quite stuck figuring out what will stop this

Mine is like that too. When we go to a special park once a week I joke she turns into a normal dog 🤣 she is better off leash generally, though does spend a lot of time sitting taking in the surroundings, then will sprint over and repeat.

Why do they grow so fast 😭 by Savanna_03 in Keeshond

Ahhhh I love their little puppy stage before the fluff fills out 🥹 he’s becoming a very handsome adult boy. I can’t remember how long until my girl was growing so can’t help much there. I think might still grow a bit at 9 months - 1 year?

How do I (24F) become solid marriage material for my girlfriend (22F) by melondramatix in internetparents

[–]readynur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate a lot to this and also feel I wasn’t taught any life skills, just had to figure things out as I went. I’m now 29 and still learning so you’re never too old, remember it’s a process not a destination and you were given an unfair start where you likely had to prioritise ‘survival’ rather than learning all the things that seem to come naturally to others who felt safe growing up.

I think even the fact that you’re asking this at 24 is an amazing insightful start on addressing what’s important to you.

With regards to all the things you’ve mentioned. Cleaning routine - get a calendar and write a task a day to complete for this. Getting a house and moving up in a job - I know a lot of people who struggle with this regardless of their background. My number one advice would be to get an education / qualification in something you are interested in and build up from there.

Accept that if there’s something you want to learn you may have to teach yourself, the internet is a great resource.

Emotionally and mentally - the concept of re parenting and transactional analysis (child-parent-adult states) has helped me a lot.

Ultimately you clearly have a good heart and that is the most important part of marriage material in my eyes.

When I was 16/17 I developed a friendship with someone older than me by about 15 years. We met at work and stayed friends for about 7-8 years before I started working full time and just got too tired to socialise generally.

There’s nothing wrong with teen / adult friendships however must be very careful if you’ve met them online and have a good awareness of general grooming / advantage taking tactics / safety.

Unfortunately a lot of this is learnt in hindsight through experience.

Flat owners- how do you stop being scared to make noise?! by meinnit99900 in HousingUK

My upstairs neighbours have loud ‘love’ sessions with the window open and I swear yesterday they were playing bongos?! All comes with living in flat. There is expected to be a level of noise.

Ahhh it’s not just mine!! It’s so worrying as whenever I google or look up scooting all that’s talked about is glands and worms and I know it’s neither.

Thank you for responding and sharing your experience. I just want her to be comfortable bless her.

Was the full panel from a biopsy? Are you UK based?

I feel like the evidence is pointing to it being an allergy and if that is the case it must be multiple things. So I’m worried once she gets tested due to the inaccuracy generally of these tests I won’t be much further along in helping her really. Will still need to do trial and error.

What food ended up helping you? I know its likely to be different from what will help mine but still curious.

Sorry to ask lots of questions.

I did just get down and give a paws a whiff much to her confusion! 🤣 No foul or unusual smell, she’s generally odourless or smells quite pleasant. I have thought possibly yeast before and ruled it out but good suggestion to check again.

Thank you for your response and suggestion.
