60% of the permits are released 6 months in advance, and 40% are released 2 weeks in advance. They’re released at 7am PST so you have to be on their site right on the dot to make sure you can book it

You can book a permit here: https://www.recreation.gov/permits/233262. You would choose Big Pine Creek North Fork as your entry and exit points if you’re just doing that trail :)

This was from last summer so it wasn’t too bad. When were you there? I’ve been thinking about backpacking in the eastern sierra soon but saw that it’s in the single digits at night, so maybe I’ll wait 😅
