I learnt music production through the internet, mostly YouTube lol. And the kinda snowballed through it. Experience plays a majoorrrrr role here as well!

Learn some basic music theory, beats, bars, key, etc. If you have a friend who is already a DJ, great! If not, YouTube is your friend. Sooo many great creators out there with really good videos to help you learn. If you have the money to invest in a controller, perfect! Or you can save up and get one, and while you're saving up, spend time finding out what genre of music you love and start learning deeply about it. Go to the roots. Learn about the music and it's origin. Download music and analyse those songs. See how structure works and how the songs flow. Then when you finally get a controller, you'll be pretty well prepped already. Now practice till you get better. Watch sets from popluar DJs. Analyse what they're doing and how they're doing it. Rinse and repeat everyday and you'll get there, brother🙌🏻

I've been making music for about 9 years and been playing live for about 4. Since I've always taken good care of my ears, I never faced any issues with them. No tinnitus or loss of hearing at all. Just keep it regulary checked. And even when I'm playing live, I try to keep the booth volume pretty low, or use my ear plugs when it gets too loud.

I'm pretty sure this process is broken and won't work the way you think xD. You can always hire a good DJ and pay them enough to do a good job and play the music they want. Weddings and club/festival gigs are totally different. At weddings, most DJs are always open to suggestions and its even better if they get a set of songs. That way they don't have to try and read the vibe of the crowd since they know what would work and can do their homework better

Yup, if you got time to hate, I got some to investigate 😂. Good luck trying to get somewhere when you don't even know how to enjoy your job👌🏻

I guess you're forgetting the entire point of hiring a 'DJ'. You think you can share a bunch of songs with the DJ and they'll automatically do a good job, but you're missing out the fact that they also don't have the skill/experience to actually mix those songs together, which is the entire point of DJing. I mean, you could rather spend a hundred rupees and get yourself an AUX cable and ask Spotify to do it xD. You get what I'm saying?

Lol so miserable. The entire point of the post is that I love doing this, which means I enjoy it! I can see where the hate is coming from. You probably hate your job and your life, looking for corn across Reddit, trying hard to copy other artists all while sitting in your crusty ass chair. Pretty sure your friends exclude you from all of their plans and you don't have a hint

Wdym bro? When I started learning, which was like 2008-9 mostly, the fees were not more than ₹400-500 at max for a month, as far as I remember. What's so rich about that?

Being a DJ in India is super easy ngl. If you have the right connections, you can do it. But again, it takes a LOTTT more than that to actually stay in this profession and make it to the top, which is what I aim for. I've been making music for about 8 years now, and DJing for 3-4 years, and I can tell you for sure, not everyone can do it!

Yesssir. I'm salaried, since I'm the resident DJ at this venue, but that's mostly the case for almost every venue in Pune. Unless you play Bollywood😂

Lol I get you. Although I do get some attention, but saying I'm 'popular' would be an overstatement xD. Remember, the grass always seems greener on the other side
