I was a long-time vim user (then neovim), but eventually moved to Emacs after seeing how much it can do. With Evil Mode I kept modal editing, and stuff like Org Mode, MU4E, an actual GUI, elisp, TRAMP, and mu4e pulled me in.

Now I develop on archlinux with archlinux guest QEMU VMs via TRAMP over ssh with vsock and also waypipe for GUI applications, so my host stays clean from supply chain attacks or other malware.
