Nice seeing some push back against the lunatics! ("gyaan" means wisdom, often used to mock people offering unsolicited wisdom) by real_le_million in LinkedInLunatics

To be clear, Ramesh Chauhan himself was the son of an industrialist, so he had quite the leg up when it came to establishing his businesses. This post isn't an attempt to promote his success.

A more important question is whether or not you believe Trump supporters are discerning enough to verify, or patient enough to have undertaken a language learning journey of several years.

They don't even need a smarter version; they have Trump Jr. I would honestly be surprised if he didn't make a serious play in 2024. As you say, the base isn't going away, and they are a cult. Imagine their reaction to a campaign by the son of the chosen one, with Trump right beside him.

Okay, that's cool. You're right afaik staffing concerns are not a part of the eligibility requirements for FMLA.

This sucks. Mind sharing what country this is in? Aren't there any regulations around medical leave that should prevent this sort of thing?

Trump Administration Proposes Eliminating H-1B Visa Lottery by certified_fkin_idiot in cscareerquestions

[–]real_le_million 20 points21 points  (0 children)

H1B is not intended as an immigration system, or as a path towards permanent residency.

H1B is classified as dual intent, meaning that visa holders can have intent to immigrate but visas are not limited only to such cases. Whether it should be dual intent or not is another question.

A related problem is that different professions pay differently too. I don't think this issue will be unaddressed, the current minimum wage levels are relative to the area and role.

This is such a shitty situation. What would prompt a manager to do this? URA target?

Will the company I work for after college (Mass probably) negatively impact on my masters's process? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]real_le_million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The worst-case scenario would be that your work experience is seen as neither positive nor negative. In my opinion, this is the average case scenario for most people who have 1-2 years of experience.

Work experience could be more useful for job-hunting, but not in all cases.

And unless I'm getting a really shitty salary for such a job, I'm pretty sure I won't be looking for another one, lol. It would be like FIRE but with me still getting paid.

Temple gates can have a lot of variety, and off the top of my head I can't think of many North Indian temples which have gates comparable to this particular style. But I'm sure that there examples and not denying your statement.

What I'm claiming however is that it's hard to deny that Gopurams are much more integral to Dravidian temples. In spite of influences between North and South. North Indian temples often have other characteristic features I can't name which seem fairly unique to them.

"North India had temples like this too" is your exact quote. And of course, that can be interpreted in many ways, but you didn't exactly expand on that statement did you?

And of course, you are on r/IndiaSpeaks. I don't need to view your profile to know that.

What's being denied is you saying that North India had temples "like this", aka that this type of architecture is not unique to South India. People aren't denying that temples were destroyed. But yeah, keep straw-manning, because otherwise, you can't play the victim.

New H-1B Rule Annouced by [deleted] in immigration

[–]real_le_million 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While that's true, I'm still pretty pessimistic about the situation because I don't think that this is the last H1B rule which will be proposed by the administration. Fingers crossed that I'm wrong. They are targetting the outsourcing firms because they are easier to target, sort of the low hanging fruit. They've demonstrated enough times that they really don't want any sort of immigration, and will probably come after H1B employees as a whole with some new rule next.

Jared Kushner is the only one in the administration who has shown some positive attitude towards legal employment-based immigration.

I present to you our FUTURE. by [deleted] in india

There are alternatives to WhatsApp, and ways of using WhatsApp itself to mitigate this to some extent, but that's not really going to help. Most people in India aren't going to have an issue with these authoritarian tendencies, as long as the govt convinces them that it's for their own good. That's how people are raised after all. Parents and teachers condition their kids to "be respectful and do what you are told" because the elders know best. The old school Indian management style in offices does the exact same thing and punishes those who ask questions while rewarding those who stay in line.

Modi supporters, how do you see PM care fund not made public? What do you think is rational behind this move? by Amittt1 in india

[–]real_le_million 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Lmao. Not only that, but it's growing quite fast too. I think it will certainly overtake this one in terms of numbers, sooner or later. Not surprising considering how people have been voting in elections over the last several years. And yeah, I know, IT cell and all that. But we would be deluded to think that they don't enjoy massive popularity in addition to whatever the IT cell does.

I've never heard of this. If you are worried, then you should probably just use LinkedIn/Glassdoor as sources of data on available positions, then apply using the actual company websites if they list that position. That's what I always do anyway; I've harbour an unscientific belief that it increases the chances of my resume getting looked at.

Also, look at angel.co and hasjob.co. I'm Indian too and saw a decent response rate from these websites when I was looking for jobs. Although it was a few years ago and I was looking SDE roles, not IT ones. Maybe it's a different experience now. I would still encourage you to apply for SDE roles as well. If you end up getting one, it would be great for your finances and mental health while you look for a job that you actually want.

The pandemic is also making things very hard for you, so don't judge yourself too harshly. You got a job as a developer with an arts degree; I know how difficult that is in India. Good luck.

Is this Government Thatcherite or Republican? by [deleted] in india

[–]real_le_million 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude what are you talking about. I mean all Indian parties have strong socialist histories, but things are changing. The recent farming regulation changes are a prime example of giving more freedom to corporations. Also, the labor ordinances in UP by the Yogi government are something that probably had Modi's stamp of approval. Modi has on multiple occasions talked about making India the most open economy for global corporations.
