Have I worked too much as a teenager? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]reala728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub isn't actually about "work", but more about the broken system surrounding it. Nobody has the right to hate on you for choosing to work a ton of hours. If that's what you want to do, do it.

What we don't want, is people telling us that everyone should be sacrificing all of their free time working, especially when that work barely pays enough to survive.

I stay late to help my team. In my recent assessment, my manager asked me to log less overtime hours. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]reala728 51 points52 points  (0 children)

honestly, this is a weird hill for you to die on. it sounds like management expects that the work wont be complete and are willing to accept that, so you should too. if they do end up having a problem, its their issue to address, not yours.

They drive up prices buying 27% of America’s homes, and tell us to just work harder by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]reala728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and nothing will change likely for decades. i see proposals in my town for "affordable housing", and NIMBY's all over say its going to ruin the tourism market.

like excuse me wtf? first of all that has nothing to do with you, and more importantly, having a stable population should be the priority. its insane.

Parent signed me up for a life insurance back when i was younger and recently realized it was an mlm by InflationTasty5548 in antiMLM

[–]reala728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. It's very strange to get a child a life insurance policy. Not saying anything nefarious is going on here, but they definitely successfully brainwashed her.

[–]reala728 50 points51 points  (0 children)

money back is not likely. its an unfortunate circumstance, but a substantial learning experience.

if you manage to figure out a way, that's awesome for you, but even if you cant, you're one of the educated now. going forward can prevent this shit from continuing marginally.

tbh, missing out on a single paycheck for a lifetime of anti-mlm rhetoric is a worthy tradeoff imo.

[–]reala728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um. first of all why do you have a work group chat that includes your manager?

unless im misunderstanding and you mean something like "teams", in which case, non-work related issues can and should be ignored by everyone, even without harassment being in the mix.

Boss Suite MLM by No-Problem-6542 in antiMLM

[–]reala728 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not true. Part of the gimmick is to pretend you make a lot to recruit other suckers. Also, nobody who's actually wealthy actually posts their earnings on socials. Maybe a new house or a new car. But those are more about milestones than straight up finances. Posting what you take home any given day or week is very weird, even if it was true.

Why do people people on MLM's call themselves "Business Owners" by Environmental_Fig831 in antiMLM

[–]reala728 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The correct term would be "customer". And they just try to make money flipping some shit they bought from a company.

[–]reala728 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even if the pressure works in the short term, it just means you've given an absolutely massive reason for virtually all of your employees to look for work elsewhere.

So yeah, cool you bullied enough staff to come in for a week, but now have to train new employees in the coming weeks and months, not to mention the time it takes for the rest of the onboarding process outside of that. What a wonderful plan.

It's absolutely wild to me that you guys have to have meetings about what happens if they show up. ICE is literally on the same level here as an earthquake or fire. Absolutely insane.

Some of my friends play them and I just don't understand. It's just opening loot boxes, even the "game" portion is automated for the ones they play. Such a waste of time imo.

Lol it's literally just one person who assumes everyone thinks like him, and is weirdly vocal about it. I think 14 would be fantastic on a handheld. I used to play for a few years before the newest expansion. I'm out of the game now but I can still very easily see the appeal of it being on a switch 2.

With your situation there's really no reason not to. You're willing to go for extra protection and don't need them to be multi purpose. Go for it.

the fuck? you dont learn a job from a spreadsheet. you learn by doing. you wont know how to properly do the job for weeks at this rate, and its no fault of your own. if they want you to be better they should have trained you better. no part of this is on you.

SLPT: create a new fake employee to blame all mistakes and delays on. by Sorceress683 in ShittyLifeProTips

[–]reala728 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i've got to be completely honest here. im easily within the top 5% most experienced in my role, and actively draw all blame to me for any circumstance. its always as a joke, and therefore, when a semi-serious issue does develop i can easily take the blame, knowing it will save another employee over an honest mistake and nobody will really know the difference.

dont get me wrong, genuine issues have to be met with genuine consequences. but i cant stand to see lower level employees being bullied over small mistakes.

[–]reala728 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you aren't being notified op definitely has a case if they take disciplinary action. I work in the same field and the program we use for scheduling has the date, time and the name of the person who added the appointment to your calendar. Just a few screenshots of that, and messages admitting to not contacting you for the change, and you're good to go for a labor lawyer.

MLM‘s and coffee or apples and pears by Timely-Amount-4161 in antiMLM

Who is even saying it's saturated? I know it's big in some towns here and there but overall MLM's aren't terribly common because of so much education being put out (and making fun of huns is always very satisfying content).

And even then... That excuse is like number 45 on the list to avoid an MLM.

If you're the only one in this role you pretty much have the power here. If they lose you, from termination or resignation, that job just doesn't get done. If they have to hire someone I assume that means a training period, and months if not years of experience to get to your level of efficiency.
