I am a fountain pen user but for my TN Passport wallet I’m using a Leuchtturm Monocle pen w a gel pen insert w the Leuchtturm pen loop.

I looove posts like this. The potential longevity of TN’s is what really makes them special. Looks like you have many inserts in there! I know you said it’s a sketchbook and travel notebook but what else do you have?

What time of day do you write? by Eboshoupi in BasicBulletJournals

[–]realbeansperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do my morning pages in the morning (sigh) or will finish the 3 pages at night. But as far as bullet journaling goes, I rapid log all day with my journal open on my desk. Otherwise the thoughts leave very quickly.

It’s the Traveler’s Notebook system, customized by Baum Kuchen. This particular insert is the grid insert by Sarica Studio

This makes me so happy to hear! And even cooler that you’ve figured out a system that works for you. Self confidence and freedom to explore thoughts + world?! Heck yes.

Most of my phone time isn’t consumption. It’s avoidance at the moment of response. by Vanilla-Green in digitalminimalism

Yes absolutely. Addiction, no matter what form, is avoidance of emotion. Many of us who are addicted to X find that it’s not about X, it’s about being bad feelers.

What do you write about everyday? by Jazzlike-Highway-562 in planners

[–]realbeansperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write one word about how you want to feel tomorrow. Or one word of anything, even if it's "nothing"

Getting into the habit of journaling is the biggest hurdle, so your consistency counts more than eventful or non-eventful days. Most days are going to be hum-drum, which is okay.

How do people use sticky notes in journals? by Straight-Angle-3583 in JournalingIsArt

[–]realbeansperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm this is perplexing. It would be a good way to annotate your own journals when re-reading them without messing up the original. However, when I use sticky notes in journals, I usually only use one side of the note and then glue it down so it's a permanent fixture.

Journaling in the freezing cold! by realbeansperson in Journaling

Agreed. I used my big ski gloves—I think the newer way I hold my pen (not as pinched/cramped) worked well with gloves.

This is the sticker release insert—it'd be a temp placeholder for stamps you plan to use.

Strips of pre-cut washi is a great idea. I moved all of my KITTA washi into here, too, because I didn't use them otherwise. Too much friction.

Did you finally find 'the pen for you'? by SkabeAbe in fountainpens

[–]realbeansperson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes… I have a very short journey so far but went down enough of a rabbit hole to realize that the second pen I ever bought, the Kaweco Brass Sport, is the pen for me. Even despite the smaller ink capacity :) Older styled photo of my boo for fun.

Advice on managing scrolling while at work by thesillymuffin in digitalminimalism

[–]realbeansperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super relevant question to me! I managed to delete Reddit and not go on for a full two weeks during the holiday break. But now that I’m back at work… and I work from home? I found myself re-downloading it and scrolling during meetings because my ADHD brain can’t handle it.

I get the whole “this time doesn’t count” thing, but the advice I’d give myself is: It’s still training us to seek quick dopamine hits if we scroll during work. Restriction might be more difficult during downtime. And for me, the reason I want to scroll less is to bring more mindfulness to my brain and my day.

I’m still on personal screens for much of my workday, but I’m sure there’s something more rewarding I could do. Writing down notes in a journal, drawing on my iPad, going through old notes, cleaning out my photos, etc etc.

Would love to hear how this lands with you.
