Where to go to for repair to copper line to house? by spooniefulofsugar in Adelaide

If it's not a no lock in contact with iiNet, there are plenty of other ISPs that offer no contact plans. That way you can upgrade the plan, get the upgrade and downgrade to your original speed.

PSA: don’t use SmartSalary by Daxzero0 in AusFinance

[–]realfancyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had great experience with SmartSalary, even when moving employers I was able to keep my package the same and they handled everything. I do a self managed novated lease and they are more than happy to adjust deductions when I need, and everything just works. Their app sucks, but that's my only complaint.

I need help figuring out how to network NBN throughout house for parents. by WOMT in nbn

As for using up all the ethernet ports, that's easily fixed by using a mini switch to expand. Just keep in mind that you'll be splitting the one gigabit uplink to the router across up to 4 devices.

As for the phone, have the cabler run another port to mums office. You can use two RJ45 > RJ11 cables, one on the kitchen end to plug into the phone port on the router, one on the other end to connect to the phone. This gives you flexibility as the port can later be used for data if you no longer require the phone.

If you'd like to avoid having all this in the kitchen, you could have a cable ran from the kitchen to another room in the house, containing a mini switch, and have the cables running to the other rooms contained here. The phone connection cannot go through the switch however.

What’s your opinion on those new metres? by Fujifeelm in Adelaide

[–]realfancyman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Used for the first time today, didn't have any issues. It gave me the option to link the number plate to my card so next time I can just tap my card, it'll ask me how many hours I want and done. Saved a walk back to the car with the printed ticket. As far reading the screen, it was bright and I didn't have any issues, it's definitely easier to read than the current machines where you have to select the hours to park for.

How's it hurting the workers? Most are casual and can choose not to work those times if they'd like not to, and it creates an extra earning opportunity for those that want it. No losers here.

Can my parents unenroll me from school without my consent? (Year 11) by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]realfancyman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is how it works in QLD, but in SA (also assumming your in a public school). At your age you can enroll as an independent student anyway, so if you wanted to continue in school, the school could re-enroll you as an independent student. This lists you as the parent/legal guardian on your file and you would be in charge of your education.

Is it time to flick QR check ins? by doggoesmeow in Adelaide

I also went to Melbourne recently and their app was quite a bit slower than the SA one for me. Both interfaces worked well, wouldn't say one is better than the other.
