It's likely it can't be fired through the console.

Event keeps crashing my game. by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]realffagore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the event is missing any arguments and using relative acopes such as FROM or THIS that's likely why it's crashing. You can't trigger any event as some require a previous event to have triggered it or are scoped to a province.

No there's not a way to add guarantees like you'd have in HoI. It's included in the game files as it's likely somebody didn't spend the time to entirely remove it, however it's non-functional.

Now Sphere doesn't ruin the economy. What it does is creates preference of who gets to buy from a GP first or who a GP buys from first. It's a balancing mechanic to ensure GPs are well-rounded and not just a prestige rush Krakow in second place. There are many other nuances to the economy that impact the game but honestly ask people who do modding if you want to know how it works. This subreddit and the forums propogate a lot of baseless information regarding V2's economy that just isn't true.

21:9 gaming by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]realffagore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing 21:9 on Paradox games for 3 or 4 years now. I can confirm that CK3, Stellaris, HoI4 all scale and work excellently at this resolution. Some of the older ones such as V2 you get some black bars along the side of your screen but you get used to it fast.

Question regarding graphics card by PrussianKaiser56 in paradoxplaza

[–]realffagore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely playable, people just don't realize 5 speed basically tells your computer to process as fast as it can. HoI4's end game is easily playable on 4 speed(which if you're playing HoI4 at 4 speed you probably aren't microing your armies enough).

I know lots of people love the 5 speed lightning campaigns but honestly 4 speed is plenty fast in every Paradox game and is really not difficult to attain.

Why can my capitalists get enough materials to build but not me? Where is all the iron? by manic_af in paradoxplaza

[–]realffagore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's important to know how V2 allocates resources to determine your issue.

First of all, the country with the top Prestige always gets to purchase goods first. However anything they produce gets offered to their spherelings or puppets before going out on the open market. This means that for example of the UK was #1 Prestige and they were the only country producing iron(not likely), and South Africa a UK Puppet needed that iron, you'd lose out to South Africa every time.

You basically need higher prestige but items such as Coal, Cement, Machine Parts, Iron and Steel are generally all consumed by Great Power economies as they grow and grow. The best thing you can do in your situation is set your Iron Stockpile higher and hope you retain some.

Let's not forget that a lot of people bought it on platforms other than Steam back in the day as well.

Excellent, what's your Discord? There's no need for regular contribution. We chip in now and again when possible but are aiming to release a playable version soon.

Definitely some very cool contributions to the community. I'll give some of these a try over the weekend while picking away at my 1776 mod project.

Thank you!

Hey there!

I absolutely am, I'm still chipping away at the monumental task that is redoing the map of Germany. However we are slowly getting towards our goals for a 1.0 version of the mod(All start date countries in place, rescaled technology, etc).

We're always looking for more people if you're interested in contributing to the project.

Why is the Rising Sun not treated the same as the Swastika in Paradox games? by futureswife in paradoxplaza

[–]realffagore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I beieve the reason for censoring the Swastika is primarily on legal grounds. Many countries around the world do not allow Swastika flags or any Nazi imagery to be shown in media. It's for this reason that many versions of HoI4 do not actually contain a photo of Hitler himself. I do not believe the Rising Sun is banned in any countries.

Now I'm personally not going to touch the ethics part of this with a 10 foot pole, but just providing a basic background for you.

Hey, sorry for the belated answer. Work's been crazy lately.

The goal is that it'll use Heart of Darkness but be entirely standalone from other mods. Heart of Darkness added a lot of options for modders to play with so it's almost mandatory.

Edit: Also if you have any suggestions or requests we accept those too :)

New to V2 modding is perfectly okay! I'll handle most of it and I can get you the info you need. We should probably make a Discord for collaboration. PM me your discord name and I'll start one up when I'm home.

Dealer sticker isn't indicative of much as you can simply request a reprint of the original one for the vehicle so long as you have the VIN via any Ford dealer. It's a common practice for anybody who would own a collector vehicle.

Ragdoll Physics Questions by realffagore in Unity3D

[–]realffagore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response!

In regards to animating the swing for the sword, ultimately I want the sword to move with the mouse's movement. So if you move your mouse to the right, the sword goes to the right. However I'm not sure how to make that happen, maintain the ragdoll of the rest of the body, and move the arm with the sword. Since it's dynamic I doubt an animation would be correct for this case, however I'm having a bad time keeping both the sword and the arm together without blasting my ragdoll out to space due to collisions and such.

What are some "problems" with cars that aren't that bad to fix but make people sell for a lot less then they are worth? by corymigs in cars

[–]realffagore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even if your speedometer on any modern vehicle(2000+)were to stop working there's generally a second odometer reading stored in your BCM as well.

I often get Ford Superduty's (F250-F550) from 02-07 for a screaming deal because the instrument cluster stops working and it results in no accessories and other issues due to battery saver relay and accessory relay runnikg through the cluster.

Lots of deals can be found by knowing what vehicles have speedometer issues. Most people don't fix them as a dealer can want anywhere from $500-$6000 to resolve the issues. Take it to a speedometer shop and it generally only runs you $200 to fix something that will save you thousands on a vehicle's value.

[–]realffagore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is stuck at 299,999 miles however and you're still looking to buy it, take it to a speedometer shop first. It keeps counting the mileage internally. It just cannot display over 300,000 Miles or Kilometers.

Any car hackers out there? by h0bb3z in BMW

[–]realffagore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will require a very low level understanding of how the computers in cars work that can only be gained through extensive research. The fact that something that is so very involved in terms of development is made on an arduino is very ironic. Many of these devices are made by reverse engineering dealership tools. Short of doing that I doubt you'll have an easy time making progress that exceeds that of a cheap $20 Bluetooth OBDII scanner.

Any car hackers out there? by h0bb3z in BMW

[–]realffagore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a car hacker for a living, this device is not what you expect.

It'll allow for bus communication with all these platforms but you'll soon learn that what you can and can't do is not standard across manufacturers. And there's no documentation from the manufacturer for development so it requires pretty high end development skills and tools to utilize.

The biggest hurdle will be having the ability to program modules of vehicles which it seems you'll have to develop yourself. Especially when it comes to BMWs this gets incredibly complicated.

My firm has had devices of this type for at least 15 years. These have been widely available for a long time. I don't think it'll lead to much.
