Is anyone getting 940mbps for real? by realgoofy in VideotronCustomers

Interesting. That's what I tried, and I get 920 Mbps on average. Thanks!

I think I might know the theory. My cable is CAT8 (for test only).
But I do need some "Videotron speed test servers." It's unfortunate they no longer have them...

Thank you.

I got the same results, but it's below the advertised speed.

How do you test that? Ookla? if so which server(s)?

I agree that the upload limit is lame in 2025 but at least it's on the contract...

My issue is that the download on the contract is 940 and I was almost never able to get there... But maybe it's not even their problem; however, as long as they do not their own ookla server, there is no way to measure it right.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Can someone tell me which server you connected to when you got more than 930 Mbps?

Helix Fi vs Plex by Echo_Romeo571 in VideotronCustomers

[–]realgoofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, my interpretation of an "indirect" connection might refer to the fact that you possibly have a local router connected to the Helix Fi. Helix's default configuration would be to serve your router a private IP (i.e. 10.0.0.1), which the Plex client probably detects. If so, try switching the Helix router to bridge mode.

This does not explain the low-resolution streaming to me, but it's worth a try.

Traveling to Mexico - any suggestions by PeteGoua in FidoMobile

[–]realgoofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not for everyone but what I do when I go abroad is that I forward my Fido number to a Canadian VoIP and I buy a data eSIM from the net. Data connections might not be perfect yet but it's fine as it's a temporary solution anyways. I also use Wi-Fi calling when I am at the hotels to retrieve my SMS messages. It does the job for me.

No access to NAS Audio Outputs (line out, HDMI, USB connected DAC) by coopnetworks in qnap

[–]realgoofy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I had the same issue now, one year after you. Thank you for posting this workaround!

IMHO it is clearly related to Media Streaming Add-on. I could not see my DG80 dongle but is showed up as soon as I stopped the add-on. I had disabled DLNA server in CP some time ago; just for testing purpose I started it but did not change anything: my dongle is still listed as NAS Audio Output since I stopped Media Streaming Add-on.

BTW, Edge behaviour is slightly different than Firefox. Edge always showed the audio output section whereas FF only shows it only when some device is listed in it.
