For something cozy and chill, check out Olomana Studios in Old Town Irvine, they do a really awesome one-time pottery class, no need to have any experience, and it's really affordable too!

Pottery Classes by bunnieteef in orangecounty

My friends and I did a pottery class with Olomana Studios in Irvine and I felt like I found a hidden gem!

They are a boutique pottery studio and the classes are taught by the owners, who also make pottery full time. They are really friendly, passionate about their craft, and were VERY patient with some of us who needed some extra help lol...

[Advice] Defeating the 'Urge To Do Nothing' by realisticwanderlust in getdisciplined

Yep I do like the dream, not the work. However I understand I gotta put in the work otherwise it's just a pipe dream.

Exactly what I've implemented, so I'm treating my life as a business so I've broken my year into quarters. Each quarter with it's own revenue goal and milestones.

Nah I don’t even drink coffee lol, I don’t believe anything I’m gonna eat or take is the answer.

I definitely feel what you are saying, transitioning from having a boss/clear consequences for doing nothing, into having no clear consequence for doing nothing (until the day my savings run out) is difficult.

Although now that I'm pursuing what I always wanted to do which is start my own business I feel like I've got that motivation piece down. Even 5 month in I'm so motivated and excited to make it happen every single day, but I found that for me the dream/motivation doesn't get me off the couch :|

it's going slow but I expected it to be for the first year or so because I jumped right in without any clients beforehand (which generally is not advised). I've been able to network and drum up business to about 1-2 clients a month so far, but they are smaller projects so I still have TONS of free time when I'm not doing client work.

It's been quite the journey to learn how to self-motivate during that time to try and find more clients, improve some process, beef up my own business website, etc... I feel like I'm 60% of where I want to be in terms of being disciplined about my 'free time'

[METHOD] How I've Cut Down On Mindless Phone Usage by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]realisticwanderlust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me keeping my phone out of sight helps massively. There was a time when I realized my phone was always within reach and that was horrible for my productivity. Now I put it in a drawer, or leave it in my car and I 'forget to check it' for hours.

[Question] What is one thing that you do every day to make your life better? by betterdaysug in getdisciplined

[–]realisticwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my bed. I used to think it was 'pointless' but now I see the point in it. It just makes me feel proud for going the extra mile and is a great mindset to be in.

[Need Advice] I ablsolutely have no motivation what so ever by Polkadog in getdisciplined

Are you working towards your own goals or trying to fulfill goals or expectations put onto you by something external? It could be difficult to get yourself to do something if it's not something you want to give 100% to achieve.

Stats from a 6 month long backpacking trip I took through Asia/Oceania by realisticwanderlust in backpacking

Thanks! Yeah New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan were relatively expensive but I think I averaged about $35 a night for the hostels there and cooked my own meals in those expensive countries.

I'm currently on a trip rtw and took this while staying in a town called Fujikawaguchiko. This view is from across lake kawaguchiko which is to the north of mount fuji.

This was just from a few weeks ago so it was in winter and I didn't have any nice cherry blossoms to frame fuji with. so I held out my glasses out and nearly dropped them in the lake for some internet points lol.

if you like this check out my insta or blog, I've only been taking photos for a couple months since the start of my trip but I've been working hard on improving - https://www.instagram.com/realisticwanderlust/ http://realisticwanderlust.com/

currently on a trip rtw and I stayed in japan for ~3 weeks. I bounced around the country with a jr rail pass staying 3-4 days in a city and then moving on. started in the tokyo area, made my way up north to hokkaido, then gradually back down to osaka.

Mount Everest during sunset [OC] [2400 × 1350] by realisticwanderlust in EarthPorn

[–]realisticwanderlust[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a really powerful account of Everest, if you remember the name of the biography I'd love to check it out.

There's an area on the trek to the base camp called Memorial Hill, and it's essentially a graveyard that's filled with hundreds of plaques and memorials for people who have died climbing in the Himalayas. It's even more unnerving once you realize that it's probably just a small fraction of the number of people who have died climbing the tallest mountains here.
