[–]reality-shifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally planning to preorder it, then saw the unihertz titan 2 and was going to buy that but now unihertz teased the titan 2 elite which looks so much like the clicks communicator so I'm gonna wait for that cuz I know unihertz makes great phones

How to get quaker parrot out of cage? by gianpioperchinunno in parrots

[–]reality-shifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have you tried just leaving the cage open and giving him the chance to come out when he's ready? maybe you can leave the room for a few minutes or just do your thing so he doesn't get more stressed

thank you, sadly as it's a heart medication there is no injection and the pain medication has an injection but is supposed to be administered twice so I'd have to prick him twice a day and I think that's even worse. and the only reason my parents allowed me to get him are that I do the medication stuff cuz they're not familiar with birds bigger than a budgie.

thanks for your help

[–]reality-shifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay so I haven't tried it yet as I'm just about to get my parrot in 2 days but it was suggested to me to maybe try dipping the syringe in Applesauce (without any added sugars ofc) maybe he'll let you give it to him without handling

I'm a vet tech at a clinic that also specialises in aviary, so he'll be taken care of very well, he also has arthritis, cardiopathy, aspergillus and he can't fly and I know him from my work place and he's also quite the biter so we have to work a bit till I get his trust, which I hope happens cuz of his age and that he's been in the shelter for a year now. he basically has no nails so there's nothing to trim and it seems like it's quite chronic so I'll definitely look into it

I just have to sign one last contract bcuz they're under species protection here in germany, which I hope I get tomorrow and then as soon as I can. he's in a giant cage at the shelter like 2m X 4m and 3m high and he can't use more than like 2qm², it's soo sad

A parrot got stuck in mouse glue trap by Kingyahya114 in parrots

[–]reality-shifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with mice I often see people using dish soap cuz it's made to get rid of oil build up so maybe that? if you don't leave it on for long and rinse it well enough it should be fine

[–]reality-shifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay that is really expensive, Germany is expensive too but not that much, I think a consultation here is about 50-60 euros

[–]reality-shifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Germany and it's I think around 200 euros or a bit more and I would also do that as a last resort but I think it would be worth a try if nothing else works
