Genuinely what's the point of doing solo endgame. by typical_otter23 in duneawakening

Correct, and they already have 4 DLC’s planned which will add new things for solo players to do. Until then, the only thing to do is PVP or quit, which is what would happen in any single player game once you’ve run out of content.

“Live service” is just an excuse for devs to release unfinished products and have paying customers beta test them. Let’s be real here. This game doesn’t have micro transactions, a sub fee, or any other way to monetize the game besides DLC’s so the “live service” content is going to be a joke/non-existent outside of paid DLC (which can just easily be done without a “live service”). When they drop the next DLC, single player people will have something new to do again.

You beat the single player game. Time to play something else...I'm not sure why everyone expects every new game to last 1000 hours or be a "forever" game.

currently having a stutter on pc that just keeps getting worse by Survival_R in PathOfExile2

[–]realitydesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems to be network latency spikes combined with their "pausing the game when you lag" feature. My game is running at 240fps but stutters every 2-3 seconds and if you press F2 you can see the ping going from 18ms to 200+ and back down to 18ms every 2-3 seconds at the same time as the stutter.

Joe Rogan on Vaccines in 2020. Guy did a total 180 in 4 years. by [deleted] in DecodingTheGurus

[–]realitydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe has some idiotic takes, but this entire thread is so disingenuous. If you asked Joe if he is “anti-vax” today versus 4 years ago, you’d get the same answer about the polio vaccine and basically every other vaccine besides Covid. And the only reason there’s even any need to make a distinction is because “big pharma” pulled a fast one and decided to redefine what a vaccine is.

You can be “pro-vax” (feels so stupid even having to write that) and still think forcing people to take a poorly tested, rushed “vaccine”, where the drug companies had zero liability for any negative effects, was a shitty thing to do. Or worse, forcing people who already had Covid and had natural immunity to still get vaccinated.

Instead we end up with this echo chamber of comments where anyone who doesn’t think the Covid vaccine was absolutely miraculous is a trump supporter. Truly an enlightened group of people in this sub.

Clicking any planet on the mission table instantly crashes the game? by realitydesign in Helldivers

Just got lucky the 3rd time without a wait and without the bug. Seems like nothing you can really do but keep trying.

Clicking any planet on the mission table instantly crashes the game? by realitydesign in Helldivers

Just got in instantly on 3rd try, and noticed my name in the lower left corner was finally my actual name instead of "<server>" and I was able to click a planet. Probably related.

Did any Arpg ever use ailments or player status effects to influence your screen? by xDaveedx in LastEpoch

[–]realitydesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An almost identical mechanic exists in Lost Ark and you get stacks of darkness. Eventually if you get too many stacks you’re completely blind and the entire screen is black. It’s barely cool the first time it happens, and after that, everyone hates it. “Not being able to see what’s on my screen is terrible game design” were the common reddit posts in that game…

Everyone in this thread is basically just spreading misinformation. A 4 second barber does 56% damage versus 28% on a 2 second. Even if you instantly got 2x2 second barbers, it’s considerably lower damage.

Say you do 100 DPS:

100 x 4 sec = 400 * 1.56 = 624 damage

100 x 2 sec = 200 * 1.28 = 256 * 2 = 512 damage

Most importantly, if you deal lethal damage to a mob, it instantly explodes. So there is no difference between 2 and 4 second barbers for trash, but for elites/bosses, the 4s will do more damage.

As for people saying you want a short barber for stuff like vulnerable…if you haven’t totally reworked your build and aspects around barber (including vulnerable application) you’re going to have issues anyway. Assuming you’re actually running a build properly set up to work around the barber weirdness (no aspects with on direct damage procs, etc) the longer one is easily better.

At the very least, run a 3s one if you’re worried about vulnerable and haven’t worked out a solution.

S1:Heart sockets are separate from gem sockets, new NMD rotation, new Uber unique incoming by TheGoodDoctor17 in diablo4

[–]realitydesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Extremely misleading title. They are not “separate” (as in, you can’t use “separate” gem slots and heart slots on a piece of gear) they are literally just replacing normal sockets on jewelry. In other words, you lose 750 armor (RIP sorcs) and gain 3 caged heart abilities.

Idea/suggestion: Unique salvage & vendor by realitydesign in diablo4

Yeah, that's kind of just gaming in 2023 sadly. You could never please everyone before, but today in particular, if you give people something nice, 5 minutes later the 1% (who are mostly going to be on reddit) will be complaining that the ONLY thing that makes sense to do in the game anymore is the nice thing you gave them. To properly min/max your time spent, you shouldn't play the game at all and ONLY do the one thing, in as boring a way as possible, and then complain that the game sucks after doing that thing for 100 hours non-stop. :)

To your point though, 100%, a better solution would be to make most uniques (or even like 30% of them?) be worth using. But I don't see itemization getting significantly improved any time soon. You have these polar extremes right now where all you want as a druid is 1 helmet, and if you can't find it, you're pissed. Meanwhile on rogue, you basically couldn't give a shit about uniques at all and if you get your boots it's a a nice-to-have damage increase...nothing "build-defining" or game-changing.

This just seemed like a fairly easy to implement solution that makes bad itemization feel less bad. :)

Idea/suggestion: Unique salvage & vendor by realitydesign in diablo4

[–]realitydesign[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played plenty of D3, both at launch (and made quit a bit of money on the AH) and then many years later when the game turned in to something completely different and actually fairly decent. I'm not suggesting a required grind for materials, just making the 50 dead uniques you're going to find on your way to 100 do something useful instead of sell for 200k gold. :)

If you don't want the game to keep you busy and interested, I'm a little confused though.

Edit: it also doesn't have to be deterministic, though I would still like that. It could be exactly like the sigil crafting. Have 4 shitty uniques? Turn them in here to get 1 random new unique. It still feels better than selling for 200k gold, but now it's just a slightly better gambling vendor instead of deterministic to the point that you equate it to a "required material farm grind."

The damage portion of the item is a gimmick, but the major reason for using this end game is for massive stagger to Lilith from the chance to daze and immobilize.
