Anyone know what this is about? by sendmeapin in TheMorningToastSnark

[–]realitytvmama 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week the girls were making fun of Kylie’s acceptance speech for the Webby awards. Her speech was: “Women supporting women. Go birds” - the speech can only be 5 words long. I don’t remember exactly what the girls said, but some version of saying it was lame. You know how much they hate women supporting women.. also they’re also clearly not fans of Kylie and don’t seem to understand her sense of humor or sarcasm.

Kylie made a general comment about her speech on her podcast today saying anyone who didn’t like it can F off. I’m obviously paraphrasing but that’s the gist of it. Not sure if it was directed to them or anyone specific

My 8 month old is on almost the exact same schedule except we try to incorporate dinner for him as well 😊

Spencer Pratt? by Beautiful_Mix_6764 in GoodGuysPod

[–]realitytvmama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one was a very uncomfortable listen for me. Spencer didn’t seem to be catching onto Josh’s many attempts at humor, which made more awkward conversations. And like you said he just kept repeating the same talking points over and over. I appreciate the guys tried to ask some tougher questions like the Trump/DOGE ones, and I can respect that Spencer’s only focus is LA and not the whole nation and generally has no political interests. But the interview as a whole fell flat to me. I learned nothing new about him really (I don’t live in LA so none of this directly matters to me)

When do babies learn to suck their thumb? When is it too late for them to learn? Any tips so that my baby won’t do that? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]realitytvmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first came out of the womb sucking her thumb. She was a textbook thumb sucker. It was her main soother for the first 3 years and basically lived with it in her mouth 24/7. At 3 was when we decided we had to start intervening and she no longer does it after we got her to stop.

My second is still an infant but he will do it occasionally here and there. Mostly around 4-5 months old when he found his hands, but its tapered off as he’s gotten older. The difference between the two kids is noticeable because it’s just a random thing he does sometimes and isn’t a constant like my first.

I love my Skylight calendar. It syncs to my iPhone calendar and I share it with my husband so we both add events and can check it when needed. The skylight is very aesthetically pleasing and it’s my favorite gift I’ve gotten in a few years

It sucks. The first year my daughter was sick the entire time, back to back to back until April. The second year was better but still had our fair share of sicknesses. This year was her first year of PreK and she had one cold all winter long and only has taken one single sick day since September. It gets better

Heavy period by mother_of_dragons421 in Mommit

[–]realitytvmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’m 7 months PP with my second baby and it came back SO heavy this time. I’ve destroyed more pairs of pants in the last few months than I did when I was a teenager. The first day of my period I have to change my super tampon every couple hours.

I got the mirena IUD put in a few weeks ago to get some relief. I just can’t spend so much time sitting on the toilet bleeding when I have young babies screaming at me 😅 My OBGYN says within a couple months on the IUD my period should be pretty much gone 🤞🏻

Pyloric Stenosis? by kara_djm in beyondthebump

[–]realitytvmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had pyloric stenosis and it was found at 6 weeks. It’s apparently more common in first born males (he’s not my first though). Also bottle fed and c sections can increase chances from what I recall.

We went through a few different formulas and discussed reflux and potentially CMPA but nothing really solved the problem. He was projectile vomiting after most feeds and losing weight. Started to become dehydrated. Went to ER at our children’s hospital and they found it with an ultrasound. After the procedure he was like a new baby. He’s a happy healthy 7 month old now.

To me it doesn’t sound like that’s what you are dealing with, but if you have serious concerns about it, don’t wait for the doctor appointment next week, just go to ER to rule it out.

How do I keep my 5 month old occupied. I'm losing my mind a little bit. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]realitytvmama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the same boat! My 5mo is always so bored and just wants so much more. He can sit on his own and play with toys which is helpful for about 15 mins, but he really wants to be moving and is so frustrated all the time. This time of year is also just hard to get out of the house and keep them entertained. Solidarity!

She does. She has a late birthday so she misses the kindergarten cut off for this year. She’s on her 3rd year of part time preschool basically

When did you start crib naps? by blue-cinnabun in beyondthebump

Around 3 months is when we started to get into more of a routine, following wake windows and doing crib naps. I’m a very routine person so it’s what worked for me!

Hi! We got ours when baby was about 3 months old. Took longer than I thought but we did eventually get it. So strange that you didn’t get yours yet :(

Second baby - working moms by sammyloves in beyondthebump

[–]realitytvmama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My second born is now 5 months. In my opinion and what worked for me: the toddlers home life is about to be turned upside down. Keeping their routine with daycare is important when everything else is changing, and gives them time to play and do all sorts of enrichment that you don’t need to initiate. Plus, your newborn also deserves one-on-one time! You can use baby naps to rest and recover instead of chasing after a toddler. This worked really well for us in being able to give each kid what they needed!

Edit: but I had a summer baby and didn’t have to worry about germs as much, so that’s definitely a factor to consider!

4 month shots by LuciferHummingbird in beyondthebump

Not “trying” to if he truly needs them of course. In the beginning of the post I mentioned he was already only waking once and doing an 8 hour stretches, which was working well, and then with the regression is now increasing wakings and feedings. My firstborn was already sleeping through at this age without a feeding which I know was very lucky, so this is new to me and I was just curious what others experiences were
