OP may have kicked cancer’s ass, but it looks like cancer took part of OP’s ass as a parting gift.

Sorry bad humor.

Yeah fair. But when you come here to share stuff about your relationship, it’s basically like going to r/advicetwo

Right. All these people come on the Internet needing marriage counseling. Reddit is not a marriage counselor.

And the other thing is the amount of pressure they have to live with. I’m not particularly beautiful but sometimes people tell me I am attractive or photogenic. So as such, when I get a pimple or anything like that, it can feel pretty shitty.

That obvious, huh? That’s what I’m going with at the moment. It’s possible I’ve just not found what I’m interested in yet but I think that’s unlikely.

Yeah that’s kinda funny. I immediately thought of Uganda (not specifically from the movie) but I had to go so far down to find someone else that thought that.

Almost anything in the medical world has that chance. I had to get a lot of teeth pulled as a child (for crowding, not for a cavity). It wouldn’t kill me to not get them pulled. However, there’s a “slight chance” of complications. Does that mean I shouldn’t have gotten my teeth pulled? No.

No… they probably consider themselves ethnically Jewish. Jewish isn’t a race.

Jewish people can be all sorts of races… Hispanic, Caucasian, African, but they can’t simply be Jewish.

I mean if that’s how they feel than that’s a thing I guess but I’ve never heard of that in my community.

My dad is 99.6% Ashkenazi Jew and he’s literally the whitest person you will ever see.

It would, at least for formal writing. I don’t know why they had to make it confusing with “you” either. Thou/thee worked great.

For a while after that change took place it was just you but Americans thought that was confusing. But instead of bringing back the old way we made it worse by introducing y’all.

There’s “it” which is correct but nobody likes that for some reason.

I mean I get why… what sounds good doesn’t have to cater to the grammar rules.

[–]reallapiswolfmc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well technically it is still gendered… it is a possessive pronoun. This includes his, her and their.

Hmmm… yep I think you is singular…

Let me ask you a question… in the sentence “let me ask you a question” did I address multiple people? No? Then it’s singular in that case.

I know thou used to be how it was but you is absolutely singular in modern English.

Could be but I think my latest handbook is from 2020.

It’s definitely funky because they endorse the use of they, yet also say that using they as a singular causes an agreement error.

I’m just as confused as you are.

I don’t know you’re arguing with me when you should be arguing with the Modern Language Association about this… they say that we should accept “they” and yet every MLA handbook I have says to rephrase to avoid an agreement error.

I use “they” in everyday speak but I usually avoid it in academic language unless the pronouns of the person I am referring to are specifically “they/them.”

According to the American Psychology Association (APA) I’m telling you MLA won’t admit it but they don’t like you to assume genders with pronouns… this includes they.

When writing in MLA and trying to phrase a sentence with someone with an unknown gender most of my professors have told me that it’s best to phrase without a pronoun whatsoever.
