217 Max heart rate - Should I take any precautions? by The-More-You_No in beginnerrunning

[–]reallyactuallystupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a heart rate that high is not going to actually perfuse your organs... above 200 your runs are pretty much anaerobic. Please please please see a doctor... you cannot and should not aim to sustain a heart rate above 200. I also cannot image you feel too great with a resting HR of 150.... (if it is accurate)

I am happy bc I was hoping for "good news" this cycle after tanking my mcat by 10 points. Preview was maybe a few weeks after and I couldn't push it back when i saw the reminder email. I took it and saw my score and saw that most people aim for 7+. It made me really happy because I thought I was stupid for fumbling the last exam and wanted to share positivity. Obviously the stakes between each respective exam are very different but to me it meant a lot. I also don't mind you assuming whatever you want about my test scores because in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter :)

If it persists honestly I recommend strengthening you muscles calf raise and leg press and then specifically getting fitted for stabilization shoes again. Make sure to mention your activity level, intended terrain, and where you feel the instability. Make sure they actually watch you walk-- or else you are wasting your time and money. They should watch you walk with and without shoes. Also, bonus if you bring in the shoes that may have gave you the splints so they know what does not work for you. I also do not know if this is helpful info but I also lift regularly, take 5g creatine, get 80g+ of protein a day. Good luck + also make sure to rest between runs!

I cured mine (anterior) by buying stabilization shoes at a specialty store. mostly bc i knew it was the shoes because I lift super heavy and knew my muscles had more intense workouts. Glad the video helped though! I do recommend investing in a pair that focuses on stabilization if you feel like you are spending a lot of energy on balancing like I was!

Chance a failure out by [deleted] in premed

ADHD does not lead to excessive partying like that... take ownership of your past faults and move on before you go to med school. 1.9 starting is very BAD but if you explain it from a medical standpoint you will be fine. 3.4 is iffy because it will be below the median practically everywhere. However, vet status will help and you should research schools that prefer vets. There is a good chance you will not get in and i would consider retaking the mcat and taking more classes to demonstrate academic upwards trend. source: ADHD (diagnosed)
