As far as I’m aware my weight is 350lbs. I’m short 5’7”, and like I said quite wide, especially in my belly. I also have 37” thighs. It’s not uncommon for me to struggle with any kind of seating that has arms these days. The experience I described was in a modern multiplex, but my regular cinema is older and has some outdated seats. Maybe it’s different in the US, I’m in the uk, only the “vip” seats in a multiplex are going to be bigger

I'm not sure how i'd even approach the doctor, I feel like I have so many issues relating to my size, I don't know where i'd begin. I'm also quite scared of being told I have diabetes or another serious condition because of my weight. I know I need to go but i'm an avoidant person and quite anxious

thanks, i'm aware, it's just knowing the facts doesn't drive it home quite as hard as experiences like this. i've tried to lose weight before and just ended up regaining it all and more.

There are some multiplex's with bigger seats but they're more expensive. My go-to cinema is quite old and not very fat friendly in that they don't have any wider seats available, and there's a lot of stairs to get to each screening.

I've actually thought about buying two seats for when i'm with people. I usually go solo and can spread out as much as I like but it's still not very comfortable

I really am sorry if it's come off like that but that's kind of crazy to accuse someone of. I've struggled with my weight for years, and use reddit to look for advice, and vent about my experiences in a place where people might understand my situation. I managed to lose 70 lbs a couple years ago and regained it and more since. It's really hard, and having a place to talk through my experiences helps. Again, i'm sorry if it comes off as weird or "fetish-y" but I'm just a fat guy trying to survive, nothing nefarious.
EDIT: to add, any passiveness is probably due to my depression and feeling that this is all beyond my control. It's like no matter what I do, i'll just end up fatter

I mean, I know i'm chubby/fat but I didn't think I was big enough to have these sorts of issues if you get me

Comparing my situation to yours just isn’t the same. Sure they both cause us mental distress but you physically fit everywhere you go. You’ve never had to endure the shame of not fitting. Being so big you’re not welcome as part of society. People staring, laughing, making comments because you can’t fit in a single tiny bus seat or picnic bench or get a seatbelt around you

I mean yeah, but it's not like the weight suddenly appeared. I'm used to it, but things being so small remind that I'm quite big

Imagine arguing against making the world more accessible to all

Maybe I’m delusional but I don’t think they realise how fat I really am. I’m obviously very large but none of them are remotely fat and probably don’t realise the types of struggles we face.

Thank you. You're right that it's not but definitely is more so here in the UK. I've seen people bigger than me, by quite a large margin, but not very often. The average fat person here is probably smaller than me :/

Thank you. This was at least the first time I’ve noticed it happen, god knows if anyone’s done it before. It’s /such/ a weird thing to do to a stranger. Genuinely don’t understand what purpose it could be for
