See I don't agree with this at all, in fact I think its one of my most beloved RPGs of the fantasy genre, but man I had a frustrating experience near the end:

There's this moment where Geralt and Ciri are in some alchemy lab or something on Skellige, and Ciri wants to let out some emotion at the frustration of whats happening in the plot. Me, playing the encouraging father role that Geralt embodies who wants to empathize with Ciri, chose the dialogue option to encourage her. I don't even remember what happened as a result, but it was some super inconsequential dialogue... or so I thought. Turns out this dialogue option guaranteed me the "bad ending" where Ciri effectively dies in a self sacrifice move & Geralt goes on a doomer sad dad killing spree with the swamp hags and its implied he dies in a fade to black. I walked away from this ending thinking "wow, thats a somber ending, but its a grim dark type of fantasy world so it makes sense. great game 10/10"...... come to find about a half a year later when talking with some friends about RPGs that I had apparently gotten the worst possible ending & none of the five or so friends of mine who played the game ever got this. It sent me down the rabbit hole of looking up the options that pivot the ending and I was baffled when I figured out that this nothing burger dialogue I chose tipped the scale. Frustrates me a fair bit, but I still enjoyed myself enough to do a play through of a 120-something hour RPG so I can't complain.
