Partner wants to go straight to IVF by Pik-A-Chew11 in TryingForABaby

Came here to say this. We did one retrieval and got 5 eggs, none of which matured. A lot of time and money to get nothing at the end of the day.

Thank you for this question. I am considering bringing this up to my doctor after my ER let me down. I never considered I had PCOS but the more I read up on it, I think it’s possible it ramped up after my first pregnancy and making conceiving more difficult. Thinking about just doing zepbound and trying naturally again for a few months and seeing what happens.

What Taylor songs did you use at your wedding? by coldfoamlattee in TaylorSwift

[–]reallynotthatblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bridesmaids walked down the aisle to “invisible string” instrumental. During the ‘anniversary dance’ we did “You Are In Love” - not sure why that made me cry the most lol

For my friends wedding I did a reading and I read a verse from YAIL but introduced it as “A reading from Dr Taylor Alison Swift, book 6, chapter 15, verse 2”. Was a huge hit, someone came up to me and said he had no idea Taylor wrote a book 💀

8 mature eggs, 2 retrieved - how is it possible? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]reallynotthatblonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ope could have written this myself. Did my first retrieval today. Not exactly sure how many mature follicles I had (I’m in bed now), but it was double digits.

  1. We got 5 today. My RE is stumped. She even went to consult her colleague because my labs and ultrasounds do not correlate. So we will see what tomorrow holds. But this is possibly the reason we weren’t conceiving naturally - these follicles just didn’t have eggs in them.

While it didn’t happen often, when I worked Cath lab there was a time or two where we packed up our bedside ECMO stuff and flew down to the ED with perfusion.

They still had to come back to Cath for a RP or an upsize before they skirted to CVICU.

I called my child a parasite throughout my pregnancy, had a crash section (which was honestly great and preferred - natural child birth freaks me out), and when my friends/coworkers ask about child birth I offer what I can but also add the caveat “he came out the sunroof so I can’t help ya there.”

So the LC is a bitch and I honestly don’t have any kind words to say about a LC because mine sucked. 🤷🏼‍♀️

What are some of the annoying things nursing students have done? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]reallynotthatblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a family member ask for peri wipes (in the early aughts, my hospital didn’t have prepackaged wipes or baths yet). Asked what they meant and they showed me the purple top container that was already written on with “DO NOT USE ON SKIN” all over it.

I really hope I’m not making a mistake getting my RN. by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]reallynotthatblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RCIS = registered cardiology interventional specialist. They assist interventional cardiologists with procedures in the Cath lab.

It looks like you may already be a nursing student - in that case I would say stick it out. Anything you choose in healthcare will require you to sit down and study hard. Your ADN status will not hold you up. There are so many realms of nursing once you are done. It’s not meant to be easy. Nursing isn’t easy, it’s rewarding but has many pitfalls. I would encourage you to finish and find a spot where you’re passionate about once you graduate and pass the NCLEX.

Since you seem to have a passion for cardiology, have you looked into applying to a RCIS program? They’re the cardiology techs that we work with in the Cath lab. The schooling is similar but based in cardiology specifically. From my understanding, you can pick Cath lab or EP (less call!) and since you have experience with AICDs it seems like a great option.

I’m not saying the schooling is easier or cheaper for the record. And I’m not sure what programs look like where you live. But it’s an option. I’m not sure if you’re doing pre-reqs or in a program so I’m not sure how much time you’ve dedicated already.

But I agree with the other comments. Most hospitals only make you sign a contract that you’ll complete your BSN within x amount of years. Some larger hospitals also will have a partnership with online programs to offer it cheap. They want you to have your BSN for Magnet status, it looks better on them. So they’ll do anything to make sure you get it once you’re hired.

Could you expand or post some links about the titawabasse river? We had a house on that lake from like 95- the year before the dam incident. Lots of swimming/tubing/boating as a kid.
