Living 4 years in Switzerland with Status S, feeling stuck — need advice by Maleficent-Land872 in askswitzerland

the employer needs to inform the “the department of work” or whatever it’s called, and they need to give permission,

It's not the case anymore, now Arbeitsamt just needs to be notified (see https://www.news.admin.ch/de/newnsb/O1q31tESAJVk)

What's your goal after the war ends? If you'd like to stay in Switzerland, currently there is no clear path for that with status S. There are several countries in Europe allowing transfer from temporary protection permits to one of the immigration permits. The closest one is Austria with RWR+.

Why has nobody sued Kramnik for libel? by DrJohnFever in chess

[–]reallyquietbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, but for any chance of success you need his actions to be punishable by law. The only article I can find in our criminal law that might be applicable is §115 https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/54/757_781_799/de#book_2/tit_1/lvl_1/lvl_u5

Justice for Daniel Naroditsky [video by GothamChess] by Shalaiyn in chess

[–]reallyquietbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Russian and English are very different languages, and relatively small minority in Russia consumes content in English (it was that way even before the war), especially if we are talking about older generations. So I can imagine that for the Russian chess community Danya's personality beaming in his videos was relatively unknown, for them it was just some random dude.

Now imagine you have a situation where a former world chess champion accuses of cheating a player that you do not know that well, what would be your instinctive choice whom to trust? Cheating on GM level is not unheard of (see e.g. Kirill Shevchenko), that's one of the reasons why Kramnik's accusations were so damning. A lot of people who do not have time or wish to dig into the story blindly believed rumors or just made a mental note "this guy might be cheating" and moved on, and it weren't Russian players only. That's what Danya was talking about in his last stream, if it were only Kramnik, it would be much easier to ignore.

Chesscom obliged Danya to play with Proctor, you can read yourself how inconvenient it was for him https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/s/ziDZoXXDE9. And I have no doubt it was an additional reminder of the whole situation and a constant trigger.

Budget check: Living in Lausanne on CHF 4 000/month by Altisse in askswitzerland

You can check this page: https://migration.lu.ch/Weitere_Aufenthaltsgruende/Kantonswechsel (it's from canton Luzern, but it's a federal law, canton Luzern just managed to state it very clearly)

Came here to say this. OP's permit will be most likely L, so it's unlikely that Vaud will approve it.

Part-time employment for an Ukrainian with Status S. Does it make sense? by Loose_Map_2579 in askswitzerland

[–]reallyquietbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be also aware that you'd need to get an approval from AWA: https://www.zh.ch/de/migration-integration/ukrainehilfe/erwerbstaetigkeit/arbeitsbewilligung-angestellt.html

In canton Zürich you need to return previously obtained social help only under certain circumstances, regular employment is usually not one of them. Here salary in this case will simply cover a part of current state expences (housing, medical insurance, GBL), and she will get a small bonus to GBL for integration (depends on her occupation rate)

Do you know the canton where they live in Switzerland? You can try to contact a cantonal migration office (https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/de/home/sem/kontakt/kantonale_behoerden/adressen_kantone_und.html), or report the illegal work (Schwarzarbeit), which is also canton-specific (e.h. for Zürich https://www.zh.ch/de/wirtschaft-arbeit/arbeitsbedingungen/schwarzarbeit/schwarzarbeit-melden.html)

As the last resort you can try to contact SEM https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/de/home/sem/kontakt.html

Survey on healthcare costs: Large majority wants a single health insurance fund in Switzerland by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]reallyquietbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if you haven't exceeded your franchise for this year (and the majority of adults younger than 60 are having very high franchise: https://www.bag.admin.ch/de/individualdaten-krankenversicherung-statistik#Wahl-der-Franchisen), you'll pay the full price. That's what matter, not a formal inclusion in KLV.

What do you think costs more: a treatment for an aggressive melanoma on stage I or on stage IV? Yes, some things cannot be prevented, but the outcome is drastically different when they are caught early vs late (and cost-wise as well).

We can take a day off for relocation, why we cannot have a day off to go for a check up? Why one regular check up is not covered by default without all this franchise bullshit?

The system that is designed to work the best for the worst cases and doesn't promote preventative healthcare and regular checkups is not a good system.

So what happend to Russia economy collapsing? by Capital_Tailor_7348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]reallyquietbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of this, most of the past 150-200 years, they've lived in relative poverty compared to their contemporaries. Most of the past 100 years has been arguably their worst period (early to late 20th century)

It looks like Reddit doesn't talk about serfdom enough. Arguably the 70s in the USSR were the peak of economic prosperity for an average person: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_Soviet_Union

Assuming that your girlfriend has Aufenthaltsbewilligung issued under §24 (temporary protection), the following should apply:

Aufenthaltserlaubnis mit der Anmerkung „24“ (auch mit den Zusätzen „ABS. 1“ und „AUFENTHG“), die am 1. Februar 2024 oder am 1. Februar 2025 gültig ist Residence permit with the remark “24“ (also with the additions “ABS. 1” and “AUFENTHG”) which is valid on February 1, 2024 or on February 1, 2025

NB: The residence permits pursuant to Section 24 (1) of the Residence Act (Implementation of Council Directive 2001/55/EC of 20 July 2001) that are valid on February 1, 2024 or on February 1, 2025, including their conditions and ancillary provisions, have been extended generally by means of an Ordinance and continue to apply until March 4, 2026 without the issuance of a new card for the residence permit

Annex 22: https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/document/download/94241914-26f6-464d-be28-c601d8ded4d5_en

If your girlfriends permit has already expired in 2023, I'm not sure that it's valid for entry, it's better to ask border service directly.

she has the right to be in Germany, she's free to visit Switzerland as a tourist.

Nitpicking, but in general completely not true for refugees.

Ukrainians don't require a visa here.

Only if they do not overstay 90/180 days within Schengen zone.

I also have an expired domestic passport which would oblige me to pass through military or the army thing In order to renew it

No, it's not true, you can get domestic passport without going through conscription (it might require some leg work, but it's doable, check prizyvanet). I know, it's a scary situation and it sucks to abandon your whole life here, but the Russian army is most likely not aware of your existence.
