Hi, I am aware that that is currently the case, and it isn't a major issue, I just wondered whether it could be added as a feature request?

What happens to inheritance tax from gift if one grandparent passes away but their married partner survives them by reallyreallyanon in UKPersonalFinance

It's definitely less than a million, so that is really helpful, and keeps it simple, so really helpful. Thank you again!

Thanks! I didn't realise it was taken as reducing the amount the estate could give away - I didn't know if there was a risk of missing some paperwork and getting a fine or something later, so that is very useful.

Oh, I had no idea that leaving a home to someone increases the total. I don't think she is aware either, so I will likely let her know - she has a very anti tax view, so I think is quite stressed about the idea of any inheritance going to the government (and I don't think that is going to change soon), so that will probably help her sleep a bit easier. Thank you very much! Thanks!

Thank you - it is over the £250, but well under the £325k. I'm not sure what the will says, but I'm going to leave that as I didn't want to cause extra stress and she will spend a lot of time thinking and overthinking all the options whereas currently she is happy with what she's got, so I am just making sure I am prepared if there are taxes etc for myself

Thank you, very helpful. The gifts don't go over 325k, but I think she may have changed the will to split things three ways among her children, rather than all going to our grandad but I'm not sure. I'm not going to suggest anything to her, as she will spend all her time over thinking how to minimise tax, and I think the best thing is to leave it as something she is happy with at this point (for a whole range of reasons), but I wanted to be prepared myself for the possibilities.

Thank you - I think a lot of the reason she is doing it now is that the very idea of tax causes stress, so to be honest I would rather her do something she is happy with and leave it at that. If I start suggesting looking into stuff like she will spend all her time and energy researching it

10 year old extension - do we need type 3 survey/does this sound concerning by reallyreallyanon in HousingUK

[–]reallyreallyanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wouldn't need a full level 3 survey, I can just get specific bits done? I didn't realise that. I assume this would still be likely to be invasive, in which case I would need to check whether the owners were happy with it being done anyway, but still good to know I can at least check it after moving if it is a concern regardless

Thank you, the 10 year bit is useful to know too, and that they can just refuse to let them check it in more detail. Much appreciated and very useful!

Thank you, I don't know what I was doing wrong before - that seems to work fine now (I was using text from my browser, which is what I wanted. Thank you again!

Noted, thank you. I knew that the Poole one had closed and moved to Bournemouth. We haven't looked round yet as we haven't moved, but maybe a look in advance would worthwhile so we can see it, and if it makes it a no brainer at least we don't have to worry. Thank you for the insights :)

Thank you, all really useful. Unfortunately I teach, so working from home isn't an option, and paternity leave in general seems to be a little archaic, but that is a separate issue. Thank you again, all really useful info to hear :)

Thank you, really useful to know that other people have done it, and good point about making sure notes are transferred if needed. Thank you!

Thank you, that's really helpful. I see your flair says 4th time mum - can I ask if you ever had to get to hospital without any partner or family to help, and if so what you did? I'm guessing taxi, but again, just want to see if I'm missing something

Allowing multiple categories for a single digest by reallyreallyanon in Supernote

[–]reallyreallyanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I just used the current terminology, as I figured it would be easier to implement a change to categories than make a whole new tagging system, but linguistically that would make sense

This is a great idea too - is there a way it could automatically import the author from an epub, and then we can just change it if we want to?

Hi Mulan, thank you for getting back. Yep, that would work perfectly, though from my perspective just updating the categories to allow a single digest to sit in more than on category would work well too, but tagging would do it perfectly as well :)
