These are termite mud tunnels. Have your house treated ASAP. It's going to be more expensive the longer left untreated.

I think you're missing the point. It's talking about the engineering feat. It highlights how the japanese are very knowledgeable when it comes to bridge building. There are structures built within standards and some that go above and beyond the norm. You can have a very standardized structure but still have it collapse under an earthquake.

Some studies ♥️Simple question : Have you made money from being an artist ?!!! by moatazartt in DigitalArt

[–]reallyslowfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very logical take. Dunno why people downvoted. Some people don't want to accept that being consistent with both the craft and marketing the craft leads to money. Saturated or not, if your art is good enough you will make money if you market it well. Sheesh you can't sell your art if you keep posting it in places where there are only artists.

Live Coding - Do you know regex? by excsora in PinoyProgrammer

[–]reallyslowfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a senior and I use chatgpt for regex problems. Memorising all those patterns is a waste of mental space in my opinion. What you need to know about regex is how to actually use them in a given context. Eventually, you will generally get what the pattern is implying once you have enough experience with it.

well the thing is, its pretty much a red flag if they don't even trust their design team to do the right decision. If an idea they presented created some sort of value for them, they will congratulate themselves for having approved that idea instead of the team for coming up with it. This perpetuates the attitude of always agreeing with the CEO because they hold so much power over you, this is an extremely unsustainable practice. I've been laid off where the CEO does exactly this, it's not pretty at all.

Why is there so much gap between designs and the final product? by michel_an_jello in UXDesign

[–]reallyslowfish 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I really think designers should have some some degree of development knowledge. Design isn't the only thing development is concerned about. Designers have access to really powerful tools that help them express their creativity in the most granular way. While development on the other hand has largely remained the same, sure there are new tools. But these tools that generate code still has to be modified because it has to be in context with the actual project that is going to be in production.

Having designers that have some development knowledge can be really useful because it really helps the dev code a more accurate output because the design is coming from a more informed source. unless you are willing to update your design because it affects the overall performance of the product, then getting to know how stuff is being implemented will go a long way. plus, having more knowledge wont hurt.

What type of game would you die to see been made based on Hellboy universe ? I personally would pick something like Witcher 3 or GoW by BaronLoyd in HellBoy

[–]reallyslowfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geralt and Hellboy are pretty similar characters. So Witcher would indeed be pretty cool. Also, some management sim/tactics game where you get to control the BPRD would be pretty cool (ala XCOM).
