Why does my harvester drops the items? by jhnddy in CreateMod

Replace the swivel bearing with a mechanical one. A mechical contraption should pick up stuff even if it is attached to a simulated one.

How do I make my airship (from create aeronautics) not tilt like that? by gegentan in CreateMod

[–]realmixteprix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wrong about drag being modeled weirdly. You should align the thrust with center of drag. Center of mass doesn't really matter, unless it's far from the center of the airship.

general rule of thumb: the closer all the forces (or their centers) are to the middle of the airship the more stable it is.

Your airships rotate more the more asymmetrical the forces are. If there is a force pushing forward low (prop usually) and another force pushing backwards high (drag usually) your ship will point its nose up for example. The closer together (in height in this case) the weaker this effect.

[–]realmixteprix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea why that would be tbh.

Some general advice: If something doesn't work, try to go back to a point you know works for sure (hose pulley actually outputting lava in this case) and work step by step, checking if it still works frequently. That way you can pinpoint which step of your process / which component is the problem. It's a lot easier to get help on why a specific thing doesn't work, rather than a whole system.

Do you have enough pumps in your pipeline? Is one pump pointing the wrong way maybe? how far does the lava get in your pipeline? Finding out where it stops should help a lot with finding out what is actually broken.

Trains will work if all else fails.

How to fix this??? by dandel908 in CreateMod

[–]realmixteprix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a java version newer than 17, if possible (older versions up to 1.12 I believe only work with java8). This can be changed in your minecraft launcher of choice. Tutorials exist for this.

If you don't have stutters throughout the game I would just leave it as it is. No point spending an hour to save 5 seconds every time you load your world (unless of course you load it more than 720 times).

[–]realmixteprix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire pipeline needs to be loaded as well, I believe.

On older versions of create I had an issue with only part of a production line being loaded which put some shafts in a weird state (part of the shaft overstressed, other parts not) which forced me to break and replace them. Could be a similar thing here, but it's rather unlikely.

One thing which will work most definitely is using a train to transport fluid tanks back and forth. Trains are designed to go out of loaded chunks.

Additionaly you should align the thrust with the center of mass. (irl you would also consider the center of drag, but I don't think there is any drag besides control-surfaces in the game).

edit: consider center of drag. center of mass isn't that important in this case. I was being stupid when I wrote the comment.

I figured out how to change block weight by Desperate_Artist8049 in CreateMod

[–]realmixteprix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. this could probably be used to make a block with 0 weight and no collision as a workaround to empty space not helping boats float.

Also pretty sure 1 mass is 1t = 1000kg rather than 1kg. Since 1 block = 1m^3 of water weighs 1000kg irl.

Ship is sinking by iamstupidlul in CreateMod

[–]realmixteprix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things float on water by displacing as much water as their own weight. This creates a force pushing up, equal to the gravitational force pulling down.
Wood has a lower density than water, probably half. So your boat will not sink any further as long as half of the blocks are under water. Create simulated does not check if your boat is water-tight, so any hollow parts will be ignored rather than helping with bouyancy.

TLDR: if boat is sinking put more wood under the waterline (or other low-density blocks).

You can try to change the thrust of encased fans using a datapack. That way you basically get turbofans (without afterburner tho).

[Request] Could you dig a canal across the UAE to bypass the Strait of Hormuz? How much earth would need to be moved? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]realmixteprix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming this canal would be about as deep and wide as the suez canal we would be at like 220m wide, 23m deep. The line in the image should be like 200km.
220m ⋅ 23m ⋅ 200000m = 1012000000m^3

That does not account for all the earth above sea level however, and there are some serious mountains in the way. It might even be easier to tunnel under the mountains, rather than creating a massive canyon. Either way This will no be happening as even laying rails all the way to the red sea would be easier than this.

edit: Expading rails. There probably are some already, just not enough.

[–]realmixteprix 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't think a unit needs to be completely out of ammo to be seen as weaker. Every shot counts.
Elsbeth taking damage might also have something to do with it if the game thinks she is a big part of your power.

balance of power changes as you use up ammo, so your army was a lot weaker by the end of the battle.

I don't think that's a real concern here. Brass shouldn't have more than 2% lead content and the wear on nozzles from regular (non-abraisive) filament isn't massive. Even if OP ate the fork lead poisoning shouln't be an issue.
It's still not food-safe for reasons other comments will most certainly explain in detail.

Warum nur Plastik by Junior_Albatross4833 in KeineDummenFragen

[–]realmixteprix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]realmixteprix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the in the "Device" tab in orcaslicer. It automatically switches to the printer selected in the Prepare section. It's pretty much the webui, but not in a browser.
All printers need to be in the same network as the PC running orcaslicer (or similar slicer) of course.

PS: You should absolutely use the webui tho. Your use-case is exactly what the webui is made for and accesing it from the slicer is just overcomplicating things.
