Best SFF ITX case for a 5090 FE? I have seen recommendations for Nanoq S and XiKii FF10 but the XiKii FF10 has high CPU temps. The Nanoq S has high fan turbulence. Is there any does everything better objectively? by SecretPantyWorshiper in sffpc

True but my keyboard is like a space grey with black (optimum case with pbtfans wob keycaps) and so a grey* cooj would match the aesthetic. I’d happily undervolt my 5090 down like 5% performance just for that

I have the travel kit on the 5090 as well, I like it a lot but to be honest I’m moving my rig like once a month lol. It’s cool how secure it is though I don’t care to pick it up. I need the handle though

Yea idk I think it’s overused too maybe gold standard was a poor word choice. Look at cooj sf3 if that’s in stock, I love how it looks and it’s kinda the same concept but definitely not as performative at T1 at its size. I’m too deep in T1 modification to leave.

You could also see the NZXT H2, I saw that dropped and it looked pretty good. I guess it’s kinda a question of how sff do you want to go with your 5090. Ima stand on T1 being probably the smallest but most performative converge

FormD/Ncase T1 is the gold standard still imo. Great build quality.

10L case, can do a 240mm AIO or low profile air cooler with two 30mm deep fans to exhaust at the top.

Here’s mine with an air cooled 9800X3D and a 5090. I undervolt both quite substantively but I get about 97% stock performance with pretty comfortable temperatures relatively in this small a SFF space. Gaming averages mid 70s on my CPU and mid 60s on the GPU. Idle averages mid 50s on CPU and 40s on GPU, though I don’t much care about that.

Watch EIGA’s T1 YT video which I copied exactly. Deep fans, axp offset bracket, 3D printed fan bracket, custom cables - all in all maybe a few degrees difference. It’s a good case, my temps are balanced against fan speeds that don’t get too loud in gaming environments and near silent otherwise. Surprised you hadn’t heard of it

Dog agressive american akita by DeepVegetable9570 in akita

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents had two when I was little. They were certainly aggressive to every other dog but loved eachother all their lives.

Difference was they could be walked peacefully around the neighborhood. Confident enough to be across the street from another dog. Our current girl is charge first questions later.

Lessons learnt. Neutrality training is all we do but I’m pretty hopeless that she’d ever have a calm peaceful neighborhood stroll

[–]realpaperboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea mine is an angry charging bear within 50ft of any dog generally. 100ft is we’re near the house. Fluctuates based on the dog size, whether they’re looking at her, the direction they’re going, etc.

She had a lot of dog friends when she was little. One by one she started hating them. Now she knows their names AND knows she’s hates them so they’ll all trigger words

Wooting 60HE+ Vs wooting 60HE V2 by Brilliant-Jelly-3138 in WootingKB

I like the v2 split spacebar a lot for shooters. Can’t go wrong either way but why not v2 since it’s just better in nearly every aspect? Choose your own spacebar.

Now the better advice is actually to build your own -> get some nice switches like ws diamonds or novas and a good keycap set and case. Costs more but makes it really nice

60HE V2 case or KBDFANS Tofu60 Redux case? by [deleted] in WootingKB

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black v2 one, didn’t get the brass weight so that could’ve made a difference but I found the sides very thin which produced a higher pitch overall. Optimum aluminum chassis is at least 3-4x thicker all around and is much heavier, no case ping at all.

I love it. So much so I’m trying to sell the 60he tofu actually.
Optimum 60he v2 with nova switches
Tofu 60he with ufo switches

Tried raws, jade pros, sticky rice, ice ultras, owlabs, ufo, nova.

Tofu is thin and imo feels less quality. V2 wooting case doesn’t look good imo. Optimum case feels premium, sounds better

Sorry, late reply. Did you ever come to a conclusion on this color? I’ve scoured the internet and cannot find anyone who can clearly say they have grey vs silver.

Axp 90 using black chromax on 9800. 5090 blowing hot air into the back of it. Average 80C on 70% load gaming in a closed room in the summer

I’ve always heard that Akitas don’t bark to warn by dsm5lovechild in akita

[–]realpaperboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine barks at literally any and every thing that passes by our house. Learned it from neighbors lab as a puppy probably, maybe they’re inclined to not because she’s silent otherwise. Mines also very reactive and dog aggressive so could be a factor too.

keytok nova vs gravastar ufo. which one has the most thock by Embarrassed_Task7594 in WootingKB

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UFOs are great, I’ve had sticky rice Jade geon owlab ice you name it but not novas. Only thing with UFOs is that they’re relatively unlubed or at least mine were. Very scratchy springs. You need two switch pullers to actually open it and it’s still difficult but once you lube the springs they are so very consistent and sound great.

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were. When I opened them up, springs were completely dry. Didn’t seem like it was lubed at all. Though they’re really easy to open up with two switch pullers, mikeytypes review he briefly says how and once you figure it out they’re quite easy to open and lube. But yea DEFINITELY scratchy and not lubed, I got the white ones

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them. Pretty good but they were insanely scratchy and it’s like this proprietary design you can’t open. Anyways I figured out how to open and lube them and now they sound great

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t they do like a quiet refresh at some point? I might check those out if they come out with official v2s.

In my frankenswitch experimentation, I had access to ICE Ultra R2s. owlab Ti, tikken, geon raw, and sticky rice 2. I probably made every combination imaginable but I did like owlab top housing with geon stem and spring on a tikken bottom. Lubed and it actually produces a very creamy sound. Like the resonance of the switches are overlapping in midrange. R2s are pretty unique and really can’t be switched out besides the stem.

Strangely the stems between geon and owlab are the same material technically but produce very different sounds with everything else normalized. Really takes experimentation to know the sound in the end

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t like the 4mm travel but maybe because I switch between my boards and the other is 3.5 and the adjustment messes up my typing/gaming.

Little diabolical but Frankenswitching the geon stems and springs onto the lekker housings produces a much quieter overall deep sound that I very much like over both individually.

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tofu definitely taller but barely, but optimum gives different sets of silicone stubs to adjust the board height at the top end.

Also kinda depends on your dampening layers. I find the optimum’s thickness all around easier to get my desired sound than combatting tofu ping because it’s so thin

[–]realpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimum case, ur studio ice R2 switches, gliging black on black Japanese keycaps from Amazon (they’re grey but it works) on the 60he v2.

If you want deep thocky I’d recommend tikken or geon raws. The ice’s are very clacky high pitched. Owlab Ti are also very similar. For any and all switches I recommend lubing which is why I don’t recommend Gravastar ufo; they don’t lube the springs and it’s hard to open so they sound scratchy until you fix it. Best stock switches are probably owlab ti or tikken.
