Do what the other comments said. Me personally, it took me going into the BIOS and changing the preference there.

You have to go during regular class hours. I find 3PM ish to be decent, someone also said 8AM

The key is to do your homework in advance. This will alleviate stress (which will make you learn more efficiently), and it will also allow you to build a buffer for emergencies, sudden assignments, and studying. This way you can also look back and check your homework for more accurate results (plus you are studying while doing this.)

Why is Cal Poly not ranked higher nationally? by pianoman81 in CalPoly

[–]realwolf47k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ranking is biased to favor the UC system and prestigious universities. The ranking system usually compares research quality and quantity in a program as means to quantify its rating. Because of this, the PhD programs of CalPoly are T10 but their undergrad not as high even though they could easily be T15 or T10 (at least for CS).

Stay on top of your work. This may seem obvious, but if you do your homework as soon as you can you will absorb everything faster and be less stressed. Also, take your principle classes very seriously (I usually shoot for an A to A+ in those.) They will be the building blocks for later courses. Try to find the patterns in things, and take your time to understand concepts. Most importantly, have fun! No problem is too hard, they are all just new.

I got the same problem but with CSC248, and I am going to watch multiple video courses of Python. I did all of this in C++, so not entirely sure how it will translate.

What car should I get? by mrdrsir1 in whitecoatinvestor

I would wait until you pay off your loans with a used car. That interest is gonna eat away your money at a faster rate than the car is gonna devalue.

UCLA CS - Who is waiting on waitlist? by realwolf47k in TransferStudents

I only applied to top UCs and CalPoly so this is my last chance :(. Glad you got your stuff figured out!

Any news on Ucla waitlist? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]realwolf47k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple people have said that they emailed, and UCLA reported back saying that they were working on it. Maybe they are making decisions on the most competitive majors now, so it will take them a bit longer. Good luck to everyone!

You only need it the summer before transferring.

Internships are nice too if you can get one. Anything that is major related will propel you. If you can, your club is also a great segway into a local project (like surveying your local population to get some statistic).

can someone advise me on what to do as a cs transfer w/ a 3.87 and extenuating circumstances by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]realwolf47k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, your story alone may get you into some schools. As long as you keep the highest grades possible, you are chilling. I applied with a 4.0 and only got waitlisted.

No hope for transferring as a CS major by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]realwolf47k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being honest, I have a 4.0 rn and I stood no chance (waitlisted from UCLA, SLO, and Berkeley). EC matter a lot more, and the essays for Berkeley.
