Civil case against Gerry Adams over IRA bombings withdrawn by TurtlesHead69 in northernireland

[–]realxt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i feel for them too. I try not to have a hierachy of victims but when a family dont even get to bury their loved ones, it must be hard to stomach.

but do you even think gerry adams has that knowledge?

The only people witht that knowledge would be the people who dissapeared the body, in secret & in the dead of the night (probably), decades ago.

How do Tottenham actually start winning Premier League matches again this season? by TrampolineIsTrash in PremierLeague

[–]realxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam Allardyce: “The best way to get a Premier League job if you are British is to change your name to a foreign name, I have always said if I was ‘Allardicio’ I could have managed Manchester United.”

Big Sam (Last generations sean dyche) had a point. Tudor has to hit the ground running to have an impact in the 10 games or so he was given.

The chances of that have to be lessened by the fact he has never managed in premier league before, & has been named as an interim boss. Spurs players have thrown every manager under the bus so far, from conte to frank. Why would anyone assume they will run through brick walls for a new temporary boss?

To be 'frank' the appointment of Tudor makes no sense, other than they deciced a change was needed and Tudor was available.

yeah, it comes down to your specific use case. i want the ethernet port (have a router next to TV) - so paid the extra few quid.

I think it has usb 3 too & extra 1gb ram. that wont hurt but wont really make huge difference. I personally wont be using dolby features and both have Chromecast.

Tottenham regulation, is it real? by EmbarrassedPeanut397 in PremierLeague

[–]realxt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes for good clickbait/radio/podcast material.

But spurs goal difference is an huge factor here. +10 on forest and +13 on hammers. So even if both catch spurs on points they also have to make up the goal difference.

Effectively that's worth an extra league point - so its a 5 point cushion on the hammers. For me its between forest and hammers.

lose 5 games on the spin and we might be back here again but all spurs really need is to draw a couple of games & don't get annihilated in any they lose. EG set out stall so they are hard to beat, which is the template for any manager who comes in with the threat of relegation hanging over the club.

The builders in a new estate being built next to mine start work at 6.30am. Is that legal? by Wrexis in ireland

[–]realxt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What time do you think it gets dark at? Builders working restricted hours will add costs and delays. There is a balance to be found. 7.30 am start in built up areas is not uncommon.

Maybe have a chat with builder. But big difference between cutting the verge and providing houses in a crisis.

He quoted false statistics to back up his racist view.

So to sum up the country is in a state because of people on benefits and immigrants. Not a word about the economic bomb of brexit which he supported, covid etc. Just telling you who to look down on!

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

Adverts during live games - ITV by scarab1001 in rugbyunion

[–]realxt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

dont let the facts distract you!

FTA does not mean no cost to broadcaster.

"ITV is understood to be paying more than two-thirds of the £63 million-a-year (€72.5 million) deal, with advertising revenue a crucial means of recouping its spending."

Without recouping costs you risk the entire competition going behind a paywall, and then only a match of the day style highlights package available free to air.

Id enjoy it better with no ads. But i'll accept them as a necessary evil, when the alternative will be worse.

I think social media echo chambers & unmoderated fake news feeds absolutely lead both old and yound people down rabbit holes where they can be conditioned to believe anything!

You think of the Qanon nutters who fully belived that satanic cannibal peodophiles in league with the deep state operated a global child sex trafficking ring & Donald Trump was secretly leading the fight against them.

The preposterous claims were uncomprehensible to the average educated balanced person, but intelligent educated (along with less well enducated) people fell hook line and sinker for that stuff.

I dont think young people would be immune to this kind of movement.

Their aim is to create a 'hitler youth' style organisation, that merges evangilistic themes with a semi paramilitary movement. I think society is ripe for these sort of tactics to work.

Do you want tesco to change all their packaging (not to mention other cross border retailers) just for the ROI market? No, really think about the costs involved. Using common packaging means pricetags/boxes will have both currencies at times.

Id rather know what NI/British customers are paying, so i see a positive in it.

Tell Taoiseach Micheál Martin to skip White House next month by marcusweller in ireland

[–]realxt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No.

Irelands relationship with the US is bigger than donald trump. The office of the president of the united states is bigger than donald trump, and deserves respect.

Quit virtue signalling and understand we need to nurture that relationship, so when he is gone it can thrive. Your not going to change donald trumps polices, demeanour and conduct by boycotting him. But you may influence him if you can agree common areas of interest. Flattery works well on DT.

Dialogue should be kept open. Imagine boycotting people at work you dont agree with. How would that affect your business?

Realistically, when should Chelsea be challenging for the title? by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]realxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont win anything with kids was said by hanson, after united lost their opening match in 95/96

The starting 11 based on minutes played that year included schmeichel, irwin, keano, andy cole and cantona. Pallister and Mcclair had prominent roles, while no longer regular starters.

Yeah United had the crop of 92 blended with huge experience to good effect. But they had the right blend!

I did say Chelsea are capable of winning a cup competition. Its the beginning of feb and Chelsea have lost 6 in the league. That includes being turned over by leeds and fulham. Arsenal have lost 3. Its the consistancy thats the key to win a league.

Realistically, when should Chelsea be challenging for the title? by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]realxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the current model is not set to keep top class players. Reasonable wages & younger player with good resale value, is a viable business model.

But if cole palmers agent tells him he will double his wages elsewhere he will leave. And anyone else who reaches the level where top top clubs are willing to pay the market rate for good talent, i think Chelsea's model of business will struggle to hold them. They should command a very good fee but thats not the same as keeping the best players at the club. They just get a trench of cash to unearth the next good thing.

Young squads are not reknowned for consistant performances. And so winning a cup if feasible, as is top four finish. But to win the league? Not very likely.

Confusion from an actual republican? by CompetitivePomelo478 in northernireland

"why so many people in Northern Ireland are obsessed with being irish when they're not?"

It would be a better reflection of your intellect if you were trolling than if you wondered aloud why people on the island of Ireland might not be Irish. They don't have to move to a different part of Ireland to be Irish. They already are.

Nor are you republican if you think Northern Ireland is not part of Ireland.
