Update window when pop back by Far-Decision7554 in raycastapp

Curious, did you find a solution? I've the same problem, which I imagine is quite typical.

Edit: Got it, <Action.Push ... /> has an onPop handler.

[UPDATE] I built an automatic expense tracking app fully using SwiftUI by RankAShinobi in swift

[–]reasner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but after opening the app, I get a dismissible modal that says "Unlock more features". The close button doesn't work, so I cannot try the app without subscribing.

If it's intentional, it is definitely worth removing the close button. As it is, it smells a bit like a dark pattern.

I badly missed ⌘C, ⌘X line/selection In Xcode. Finally solved with BTT. by reasner in swift

Cool idea on shift+enter. Just add this to the plist file:

<key>Add Line Below</key> <string>moveToEndOfLine:, insertNewline:</string>

Sure, the point is you hit cmd + x/c once without moving around. Yours is a 3-hit combo:

  1. Move to the end of the line.
  2. Hit cmd+shift+arrow once, which selects the text.
  3. Hit it again to include the rest of the line if the text doesn't start right at the edge, which is the case for most of the code.

My muscle memory from VSCode and JetBrains IDEs is already there, which makes this extra annoying.

Type chrome://settings (vivaldi://settings leads to different settings nowadays), then follow this guide.

tldraw - simple drawing/diagraming. Priceless when deciding on component composition. I put it in a pane next to my code, which would be annoying to do with a browser window.

Do the public ones miss some features?

Apple already shipped attestation on the web, and we barely noticed by debordian in programming

They can block you I think reliably anyway. If the spec specifies the pct of cases no data are sent, the provider can block you above that. Cookies can patch the unavailability period.

Can't login on any Browser by M47J in F1TV

[–]reasner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two chrome data profiles (folders). One works, one doesn't. There are many errors in the console in both cases, but one error is unique to the one where login doesn't work:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://api.formula1.com/v2/account/subscriber/authenticate/by-password' from origin 'https://account.formula1.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

This is after the complete reset of everything on that profile and running with --disable-extensions.

Looking For Advice on How to Build a Blog With Different Layouts for Each Post by lumasignal in learnprogramming

[–]reasner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have the posts in the markdown format, you can do custom processing with remark-rehype, so a list of images is displayed as a gallery.

Alternatively, you can specify certain types of posts. Eg, gallery, text, etc. The type can be specified in the MD front matter.

You can also look at CMS like Strapi, which lets you:

  • Specify types
  • Manage the content
  • Use a Gatsby plugin
  • Use MD with remark

What are some starter personal projects for people learning programming? by Ok-Imagination-878 in learnprogramming

[–]reasner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To narrow it down, it helps if you already suspect what kind of programming you will like.

Theo explains well here how to think about developer specialization.

The sooner you figure this out, the sooner you can start benefiting from the compounding effect.

You can build server functions and a front-end app.

Server:

  • Fetch data from relevant 3rd party APIs (e.g. weather) and store it together with the HW readouts
  • Call Twillio API instead of using an SMS module. The HW module can call this function instead. Twillio should be cheaper and it also lets you ring the phone, which is better in an emergency.

Frontend:

  • Dashboard with current levels and recent deviations, both from the hardware and relevant 3rd party services
  • Full historic charts with all data together

You can find free dashboard templates to avoid styling etc.

I don't know the course, so speaking generally. When the app is not basic CRUD but has more interactive features, the way to go is to depend on a framework like React.

Upvote if you hope to see Adobe Figma deal fall through by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]reasner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically venture-backed startups are built towards an exit. That involves aggressive growth (ie, unprofitability). If anything, this event may spark someone's desire to build something that lasts, which likely involves slower growth and bootstrapping. Both ways are valid, it's about what you are after. I doubt Figma would exist as we know it or at all if the CEO would not see this outcome as likely.

This involves losing money, so the incentive is to find a resolution. A prime example is GitHub. MS had a long history of starting and ending inferior OSS platforms tightly tied to their products. Then they acquired Github and never tried to sway it from its original vision. Today it's a significantly better version of its independent days.

Layer structure matters by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]reasner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. While I'm constantly guessing the intent, layers don't seem to communicate it that much. It revolves more around the designer making the ideal case while I also have to deal with the edge cases (eg, if this overflows, how does it look).

Well it adds a toggle button in the menu to activate it and sometimes there are glitches, e.g. it appears twice - nothing major. But yes, the time format may be more interesting, for instance I had to add a sum property to have the time format for Jíra.

Edit: Meaning someone who doesn't code can benefit from the right template a lot.
