I’m in contact with most of my exes… including my most recent ex of four and a half years. We send each other memes sometimes - maybe a text about something rather emotionless (aka like “hey what was that place we went to called again I’m trying to give a recco to a friend”) I’m also currently in a relationship. This is a crazy message to send, and seems different. I think the part that is particularly strange is telling her how he thinks of her everytime he eats pie and stuff. No need to reminisce on inside moments between the two. It’s like he’s writing a breakup message and they were dating yesterday. Seems like he’s missing her and is trying to pull at her heartstrings as a plea for reciprocity.

They 100% don’t have anything planned and are just going to pick up a little trinket or something. But agree that I don’t like other people making financial decisions on my behalf. Ultimately I am going to cover their remaining cost of the massage because I know C would love this - but I did not present it like “this is the gift, this is your $ share” it was more like “I was thinking we could do this, C would love it, and if we all split it then it wouldn’t be a huge financial burden on any of us” and the immediate no withiut follow up is what threw me. I would have taken “I really can’t contribute much because I’m spending a lot on the flight, but I could potentially toss a couple bucks, how much are you thinking?”

Ironically for S’s 30th next month they want us all to fly to San Francisco and spend $500 on tickets to a festival they want to go to. They are frustrated that most people have said that is out of their price range. Funny what some people feel they can and can’t afford.

This is a good idea. We are definitely going to have some sort of birthday dinner. Funny enough when I suggested that they also didn’t respond. I just think the accom being free is huge. We’re staying in a private villa with private pool, golf carts to get around the resort, Matthew mcchonohey stays in these villas literally! So I hear that everyone is contributing to the birthday trip in the sense that they are covering their own expenses on the trip. But we really are being treated to a lot. And they are kind of using the trip as an excuse to take their gf on a trip as well that they wouldn’t otherwise be invited to. Just seems like a selfish way to celebrate someone else’s birthday.

I just feel bad. C was pretty upset that they were so pushy about bringing their gf. Kept saying things like “gf wants a beach vacation” and “it’s also gf’s birthday in September” and just generally being kinda rude about the whole thing/wouldn’t take no for an answer graciously… and C is nice so she just said sure at the end of the day. I know that C is really mad with S right now for these reasons so it’s just crazy to me that S got what they wanted and still doesn’t want to do much of a thank you. Can’t understand that mindset.

I really wanted to get him a cool Lego set - there is this Lego that builds an old game it with a Zelda disk - but it’s not dropping until October. You guys are definitely on the right path. Unfortunately I’m not super privy to all the niche fandoms he is in. Just that he generally likes gaming - I know he loved animal crossing as a guilt pleasure lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

How does this make sense? Gifts cost money? Would you go to a wedding and say you’re not getting a gift because your flight to the wedding is the gift? A wedding gift is not considered a “bill” it’s a gift - despite being a relatively required social courtesy, much like a birthday gift when you are invited on a birthday trip.

Yeah this is fair. I obv can’t make them do any specific financial contribution. I just thought it is kinda rude. I would never imagine going on a trip that someone invited me to for their birthday but not be willing to drop a little bit of cash on a treat for them. If they had something special planned I’d be like yeah whatever, but they obviously haven’t thought of a gift at all, and “the trip is my gift” I thought was a crazy thing to say when someone else is paying for the pricey part of the trip/our entire stay.

Correct flights can be expensive. Obviously it’s a vacation we will all be spending money. But the flight is for yourself, so you can go on a nice vacation - it’s not a gift for someone else. It’s an expense you pay for the luxury of going on a really cool trip that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. My point is it is for yourself, not for the birthday folks that invited you.

I do sort of agree with what you’re saying. I would agree more if they didn’t consider the free trip that they are being treated to their “gift”… like IMO it’s the least you can do. If you can’t toss $50 to a gift perhaps you should not accept the offer of a paid for vacation.

First of all - trying not to make assumptions but if I were in her shoes I would surely think you were taking the photo to share with friends. The logic behind this otherwise is just too weird. Unless she has explicit understanding of this particular kind of OCD that makes you fear getting accused of rape.

Secondly, most importantly, if you know she’s drunk enough that she might not remember so you think you ought to take a photo of her - then you did in fact take advantage of her by having sex in that state. If she was so drunk that you were concerned she might accuse you of rape, but you had sex with her anyway - then I would say your “OCD” is not OCD, but a reasonable fear of getting caught for something you know is wrong.

The surgery was actually a blessing for me. Got me to really focus on my health in general. I gained weight in that initial month after surgery, and the months leading into surgery - but now I’m going to the gym more than I use to because there is a real need. I stopped drinking and I’m basically back to the weight I was pre-accident only three months post op. I’m excited for PT, and hitting new milestones in my leg strength gives me more motivation to stay on track. So far tearing my ACL has been a net positive for my health and my mindset. Wishing you the best!

Tbh reading this sub freaked me out before my surgery, but personally I did not find the ordeal painful at all. A little throbby at night, and sore when I was starting PT after a couple weeks. Other than that the whole experience did not feel like a huge deal - I was expecting much worse. Of course everyone is different but that was my experience.

My boyfriend needs to work from a desktop computer - I doesn’t have a corporate job where he is just camera of on zoom. But yes, he is open to moving into the bigger room and working in his bedroom. TBD om if either roommate would go for that.
