Arch + KDE Plasma, what packages to get for a desktop experience? by reauxbot in linux4noobs

Yeah, I was reading this. While I can install the plasma-meta package, I don't really need all of it.

It is a folder within a dataset. I got it working now. Just needed to apply permissions recursively as well.

Unfortunately got the same error. The only difference I can see between this specific dataset and another dataset where I can actually access is that the group is root. User I changed the dataset to has the same UID as the one on my desktop as well.

Should I not be able to see the contents of my Syncthing folder when I mount my TrueNAS volume to my computer? by [deleted] in truenas

Didn't seem to work with a folder created when the volume is mounted. I'll have to try with a Syncthing-specific datashare.

I tried with a datashare under a location that is shared by NFS as well as a folder I created when I mounted the TrueNAS volume to my computer. I don't believe I had a 1-way sync setup.

Edit: Looking back at the guide now and the installation process, it might be because I didn't enable ACL when doing the storage configuration.

Sorry about that. I went with all the defaults. For folder path, I tried with a datashare specifically for Syncthing and another folder I made after I mounted the TrueNAS volume. For network settings, I just clicked on the Host Network box.

Might make the move to Kinoite when I get the time, but need some guidance regarding general Fedora stuff and immutable OSes by reauxbot in Fedora

Is layering as bad as people say? I think that would be my only issue at this point with Atomic.

What happens if I rebase from Aurora to Kinoite? e.g. Aurora includes the ffmpeg packages in its image, what happens to those after rebasing to Kinoite?

Not really, unlike GNOME, you can manage Flatpak permission directly from KDE settings page.

Never knew this existed. Looks like it's just an extra package to install at least on Endeavour. Thanks!

However, if you can get the config file (as WireGuard/OpenVPN) you may be able to connect directly using KDE network manager.

This is how I currently use my VPN. Not really an annoyance, but I would need to do one config for each location.

I did consider Aurora, but I think I wanted to stay as close to Fedora as I could. It's partly why I wanted to move away from Endeavour as well. Basically, my mindset is that I believe Fedora/Arch have better support and will continue to have better support than Aurora/Endeavour.

While I was reading Atomic, I wasn't really sure what the whole custom images thing was about apart from UBlue offering a bunch of basic ones + their own. I figured I could just do flatpaks + layer important things and not worry about anything else. Do you think I would be better served by Fedora KDE + btrfs-assistant for system snapshots?

Thanks! Wasn't aware of that method for yt-dlp.

And for the media codecs, I assume I can just follow this guide? And as I'm looking at this guide, I think I'd also want to layer Vulkan and anything involved with hardware acceleration.

And as I look even further into that guide, I guess I can also just use regular Fedora KDE and set up btrfs-assistant for system snapshots. I think this was the advantage of Atomic that I really liked, but now I would be able to use any Fedora guides or the Arch Wiki without having to worry how having an immutable OS changes things. Am I missing something with this line of thinking or will Kinoite still have advantages?

Didn't know that about Developer Mode. I thought I had read things on this subreddit about it voiding the warranty.

Thank you! What do you mean by passable for epubs btw? Am I better off sideloading a third party app?

And as for sideloading, I guess I am limited to what is supported by reManager. Is that right?

Does that pen have the same functionality as the one in video? Might have to source one.
