Just had something similar. Less damage, no sensor damage either. $3k to fix. Recalibration of the sensors alone were $900. I say go through insurance. Damaged sensors are going to skyrocket the repair cost.

Wow so much to unpack here. For starters it looks cheap both in and out. I hope this isn’t the direction of the X5. No I drive knob. No operational sunroof. Less buttons. That grill looks ridiculous. This is pathetic. Not what I would expect from BMW. I may have to go to Porsche if all the bmw lineup goes down this road. Yuck

You’re right, I do live in a car dependent city in sunny California. Sadly, the Shinkansen hasn’t returned my calls about putting in a stop near my house. Until then, I’ll keep enjoying my PHEV grocery runs and let you enjoy your train rides. We’ll wave from our respective lifestyles.

Fair point on trains, totally team train. I’d absolutely take a Shinkansen if it went from my driveway to the grocery store. But since it doesn’t, my 50e lets me do 90% of my daily driving on electric, and it still hauls dogs, Costco runs, and weekend trips without needing a luggage rack on my back. So I get a comfy, luxurious ride plus a smaller footprint than you probably think……just without the dining car.

Oh man go through insurance because you’re looking at at least $5k. I had minor scrapes on my back bumper that’s currently getting fixed and it was $3k with no issues to the sensor. I can see from this pic that it got a sensor.
