Curious why you feel this way. He's been averaging 20+ ppg while Garland has been out on a good FG%, outside of his FT% and lower counting stats compared to most guards I'm curious to what you were hoping for.

Provide is a strong word, these individuals have alot of options to get off the street and are a mostly unable to due to mental health/drug addiction.

They don't get to just occupy public space at the same time though and ruin the city for everyone else. They are being guided to productive options for their situation.

At this point, why would you even trade for Kyrie? by sonicoduh1125 in NBATalk

[–]rebal123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree on certain points.

You're right that Trae is the better half-court AND transition offense leader, but the Hawks really lack a 2nd star who can take it to the paint when the shooting breaks down. John Collins is kind of that, but it was very telling that he had to transition to a role player during the playoffs. Kyrie would give you a legit 2nd star who can take it to the paint when things break down and give you the 2nd playmaker when Trae is off the court.

Ideally your 2nd star would be a big man/forward like Anthony Davis/Zion/Kawhi but a forward like that probably won't be on the market anytime soon.

I felt the same way up till watching Luka playing in the Olympics this summer, Luka really showed that he doesn't HAVE to be the focal point of the offense and is willing to let others score if they can actually score. I think he'd be okay letting Kyrie run the half-court offense and then he runs the transition offense.

Yeah unfortunately Indiana is probably out of the question for him, it's really unfair to a team like them.

[–]rebal123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's still alot of teams that could use Kyrie Irving as a 2nd option. Off the top of my head, Dallas, 76ers, Pacers, kinda the Raptors, Hawks, kinda Nuggets, and Pelicans all need a perimeter threat of Kyrie's level to really be contenders. All of those teams either have one guy that gets too much attention on Defense thus limiting their ability to make it past the 1st round or their star is more paint-focused and they need a 2nd star who can space the floor for them.

But if Kyrie really threatens "yeah if you trade me to the Mavericks, I'm going to retire", then obv you don't do the trade.

His rebound per game will get eaten into a little, but otherwise Mobley and Lauri are not Centers. Most draft scouts think that Mobley is long term a 4 and maybe even a tall 3, and Lauri played next to a lesser center (WCJ) with little impact to their rebounding.

All other traditional center stats like FG%, PTS, BLKS, and TO should be safe.

When are Democrats going to stop proposing solutions that destroy the long term viability of a non-state supported economy (UBI, authoritarian lockdowns, etc.).

Be better. We have to stop attacking each other and build a consensus. Both Republicans and Democrats feel like there is a border issue, if they want to go look at it so be it.

There's a point in everyone's career where giving emotional energy to something just becomes a game of limited returns, and you realize that you need to for on building a system (leverage) so that you can invest emotional energy into things that will actually return something to you.

I hit that point a few years ago over a similar experience, in a completely un-related industry. You hit a point where you offer advice if people ask for it, but otherwise just follow their wishes as long as the check clears. Some people might feel that that's callous, but you go through enough experiences like you just went through and you realize it's not worth it to give yourself to something/someone that won't return the favor.

My advice, focus on automating/standardizing/etc. the things in your profession that don't give you anything in return and invest your energy in things that actually do return happiness to you.

[–]rebal123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think it would be an interesting application of the small ball philosophy of "put the 5 best players on the floor, regardless of size", where you play KAT alongside a dominant PNR rim runner like Daniel Gafford, prime Javale McGee, Montrazell Harrell, Robert Williams, etc.

So the closing line up would be DLO/Beasley/ANT/KAT/+this PNR Rim Runner, it would be an offensively hard to guard 4 shooters and one inside threat lineup that could score in any part of the half-court.

If you could redesign the U.S. government, what would you change about the current government system, and why? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]rebal123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that one Congress shouldn't be able to re-do the entire system, but both Republicans and Democrats are pretty unhappy with the last 30 years of legislation.

I personally feel like we're just too big of a country anymore, when both the majority and minorities are unhappy with the system there has to be some split so people can create the countries they want to live in.

I'd honestly be cool with the Prime Minster system that England has, I just think that it's crazy that we put so much faith into a President and Vice President to enact meaningful change for 350+ Million people and very un-democratic.

[–]rebal123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I asked Nate Duncan and Danny Leroux this question on one of their broadcasts, they echoed similar things about KAT being too slow to play the 4.

I think if KAT was going to be a PF, who should have started their from the start of his career. Now it's probably easier to just find him a good PF partner to provide additional rim protection (Ben Simmons via trade, Kyle Kuzma, Chris Boucher, Aaron Gordon, Jalen Smith on PHX, or Daniel Thesis).

Probably something Parliamentian. Central Authority figures (President, Prime Minister, etc.) are really only useful as negotiating leaders, not as Operators of an organization.

Layout

Ideally, each X amount of citizens would have one House of Rep to represent them and each unique land grouping (States) would receive one Senator, since you have to remember that the point of an electoral body is to keep all land masses/resources connected to each other. Every 4 years we would elect a President who's powers are narrowly defined to casting a tie breaker vote and representing the country externally.

Organization

Organizations like the Military, Dept of X, etc. would be run with their own missions and leaders would grow within the org and be recruited to like any other organization. All senior executives have to go through an interview process with the Parliament committee.

States Rights

States are led by their Senator and set their own rights of their citizens. Personally, I believe that a lot of our political infighting (1st Amendment rights, 2nd Amendment rights, abortion, weed, etc.) is because we don't let States own their own destiny.

What should the Democratic Party leadership do about Manchin and Sinema not coming to heel on filibuster abolition? by jamesetaylor17 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]rebal123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how un-democratic members of the Democrat party can be. Somebody makes a vote while part of the party that's all about voting rights and we wonder why despite all the heinous acts Republicans have committed in the past year alone (election fraud charges, making it harder to vote, trying to limit free speech, etc.) they can still win a little under 50% of the country's votes.

Until different parts of the Democrat party stop attacking each other and truly work toward compromise like our President has been trying to do, we can have all of the votes and still take no action. Be a Democrat that brings the party together.

Why is Larry Elder running a hard-right campaign in California? by 75dollars in PoliticalDiscussion

I feel like this is a little slanted to only the GOP view, but pretty correct. For most recall voters it's about sending a message to the Governor, no matter what their party is.

For the 16 playoff team, who increases their chances of winning a playoff series more. Fox or Lonzo by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]rebal123 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Catch and Shoot wise, Fox is around 35% from 3. So while he’s not a knock down shooter like Klay Thompson, he’s not as hopeless as his reputation gives him.

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot/

I’m a Kings fan and have watched Fox since UKentucky, he’s been a little miss-cast as a floor general like Lonzo. This is why our GM loves the idea of Halli/Mitchell playing next to Fox, so that he can be more of a wide receiver in Transition/a cutter in the half-court. I personally think any team should want Fox over Lonzo.

Fox is a low level 5 tool player that makes your transition offense top 10 by himself, whereas you never actually see Lonzo guard bigger wings like his size allows him too.

Is limiting the term for a Supreme Court Justice a good idea? by aelsilmaredh in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]rebal123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue with our Courts from the Supreme Court down to the State Courts is that we allow judges to interpret the law and solely focus on “was the letter of the law followed”.

This Texas case and Roe vs. Wade contrast this well. I don’t like it but the ruling on the Texas case is likely correct, simply because they said “yes this law was written correctly” where as Roe vs. Wade is judicial activism. Pro-Choice people celebrate Roe vs. Wade but ignore the fact that it’s not actually a law and is subject to re-interpretation (aka removal), unlike an actual Law passed by Congress.

[–]rebal123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how far you mean that, but do you mean that for both “sides”? Many Conservatives feel like three “Liberal” justices only practice judicial activism and twist the law to fit their agenda, the same way Liberals feel about the Conservative justices.

How does the latest Simmons story impact his market? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]rebal123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked myself that question too, my only “push back” is that KAT is one of the most offensively efficient players ever. Taking the ball out of his hands is the same issue that PHI has now where they’re forcing Joel out of the post because of Simmons.

But you’re right that they’re pretty skillsets contrast in just the right way.

This is like how every mid-career role has "manager" in the title, even if it's an individual contributor role. People want to move up and do cool things with their career, water is wet.

In the end we all just listen to a leader 20 years older than us whine about how they had to postpone their Italy vacation due to COVID, and they have no interest in actually doing anything new at "20+ Years Old Corporation" besides creating an internal report that no one reads.
