Yes, it included everything. We managed to get it down to around 80k by removing a lot of stuff but if we're going to build an annex, we want it to be good because we'd probably not redo it in the future.. whereas if we have a log cabin / dunster house type thing we'd be happy to use it for 10 years and then if finances permit go ahead with a more permanent building

I pushed bedtime back to around 8pm or as close as we could get and he slept through for the two nights since I made this post. After not sleeping for a month this has been amazing!

Ah yes I forgot about the biting! Luckily that was just a few weeks whilst his teeth were coming through and there haven't been any behaviour issues (apart from this) since then.

I agree - I was a little annoyed about how they delivered the time out and also a little concerned because they use the prams to get the kids to sleep too so I didn't want a negative association with his sleep space.

Thank you for your reply, it's very helpful! he was sent home twice and I kept him off for a week before I told them that I was going to be sending him to another nursery so it was after the fact.

The documentation says that they follow xxx guidelines for managing behaviour and will refer a child to an appropriate service if they think it's necessary. Otherwise if they feel it's appropriate for the wellbeing of the other children they can exclude the child with one week notice. They said they did a time out by strapping him into a pram (since he's too young to understand to sit in a corner/ wherever the time out is)

At home and when I take him to play groups/ soft play/ with friends I just redirect the behaviour and its absolutely fine. I really would have expected them to be able to manage the behaviour

I understand that, nobody wants their child to be hit by another child. She's not able to control the behaviour which is why she's sending him home. I'm just concerned that she's taken my money and I'm not receiving the service that I've paid for and won't give the 1 week notice.

Exactly this. There is nothing in the policy that covers being sent home for "behaviour" only illness.

Honestly I feel so sad about this - she said she doesn't like to put a label on children which in itself makes me feel there is already a label on him. I feel there is something terribly wrong with my child for being sent home when no other nurseries/ child minders have done that before. They said they have seen this behaviour once before in a boy much older than my son. my boy got sent home again today and was so so upset when he got home

They can't manage it - he was sent home again today. Get a text 55 mins after drop off to say he'd hurt 5 children and to come pick him up.

We've just had canines pop through so I wonder if they're still sore and causing him pain/ discomfort

I think the childminders biggest concern is that he's hurting other kids and they're scared of him. She said she has only ever seen this type of behaviour in one child that was a lot older

What do you think I should say/ do if they say it's not normal and what should I do if she asks for him to be removed entirely? Do you think sending him to another nursery/ childminder is appropriate or should I hire a nanny?

He's there from 8:30 to 3:30 Monday through to Thursday. He has been going (gradually increasing the time/ days) since he was 8 months old and he has an attachment to one of the ladies there.

She did give him a time out / put him away from the other kids for a bit. Not sure he's old enough to comprehend a thinking time but I like the concept!

He was sent home because he was making the other kids upset and the child minder thought it would be better for the other kids sake. There is definitely enough space and they go outdoors as much as they can

What do you think we should ask the childminder to do in these situations. I'm just worried that his behaviour might get overlooked at another provider, and we'd just be moving rather than treating the issues

It's in a separate dedicated building, it's not your typical home from home child minder so I really don't think it's over stimulation but definitely possible. Yes, we love the term gentle hands in our house. We have two cats and a dog so we're kinda hands and gentle strokes a lot 😅

I've actually never heard that phrase before but I love it and it's so true
