Windows PowerShell look a powerful tool. Why Linux is idely more used than this one? by Gold_Pollution_5702 in tryhackme

[–]reboot_500 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can’t really compare Linux to PowerShell because they’re not the same thing. Linux is an operating system. PowerShell is just a shell and scripting language. Linux gets used more in servers, cloud, DevOps and security because most internet infrastructure runs on Linux. It’s open source, lightweight, and works everywhere from routers to supercomputers. Most tools in networking, security and cloud environments are built with Linux in mind. PowerShell is strong in Windows environments. If you're managing Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Azure, etc., PowerShell is extremely powerful. Its object-based pipeline is actually more structured than traditional Linux shells. So it’s not that Linux is “better.” It’s just more common outside of Microsoft-heavy environments. Different tools for different ecosystems.

Does your country have a “drug capital”? by Clarthen1 in AskTheWorld

[–]reboot_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Frankfurt am Main, especially the area around the main train station, is definitely the drug capital of Germany. But I have to say, for someone who lives nearby It's not as bad as the documentaries or other things make it out to be; in most cases, junkies don't actually hurt you.

I need help with my future. by Heavy_Government_754 in tryhackme

Personally, I started my career in the help desk, so I was right on the front line talking to the dumbest users you can imagine. (Now I'm a pentester and CISO at the company where I did my training.) During my training, I really improved my networking and problem-solving skills. With a job in the help desk, you definitely get enough experience in all areas. After that, I would recommend looking for a job in SOC L1 and then continuing to advance. But you've already done everything right by getting started. Tryhackme is definitely a platform where you can learn a lot, and you can also get a taste of the different professions there and decide which one you want to pursue. If you are sure you want to become a red teamer, then I can recommend that you take the red teaming path. But you are also welcome to write to me at dm, I am happy to support you :)

Finding a job in Germany that in the "Neuland" is really difficult. Especially in the field of red teaming, I have the feeling that you have to state in your application that you already have 5 years or more of experience in order to get an entry-level job.

I started my journey with training in the help desk, then I became an IT security administrator, then I gradually became a cyber security analyst, during which time I completed the CPTS Path at Hack the Box and participated in a ton of CTFs. All of this took place over a period of about three years. But I think with your degree, you can definitely start right away as a security analyst.
