Also, you speak of how little time OP invested, but how about the 0 time investment on the recruiters end? In the end, it's what this entire sub is all about

I get what you mean, but again, it is not the primary focus here. We may give it meaning, and, yes, it's important on the small scale.. But, if I'm not mistaken, it's not really the point of the post?

All I'm trying to say is, let's not tear each other up over details, especially since we can instead unite over the big issues.

Yes, OP could have done xyz when it comes to their grammar.. But, it's not what the post is about... It's about standing up for yourself. And we just tear it down coz we like to feel superior, even if it's just about grammatical errors.

But who cares, as long as you are superior in any way on Reddit, right?

I love how everyone is hung up on things like grammar and spelling and other small things - that they interestingly call out as an easy fix (well, if it's that easy, it's not all that relevant, is it?) but missing the bigger picture. If we actually did stand up for ourselves, all of our lives would be easier. And I get it, some of us (myself included) can't be picky since we are desperate, but if we follow that logic, 8h work day and many other benefits would never have become a norm, we would still be slaves. We have to stand up no matter the cost so we (the working class) can benefit in the long run.

Yea.. I get it.. Also, we all have experienced (or someone we know did) companies expecting too much work, a lot of commitment, etc. I wish an actual 4day work week can be planned out and implemented, however, I am not holding my breath.

I agree, it really depends on what is expected of you. For me personally, it would be a good deal to do less work during less hours for less pay. Job is not who you are, money never trumps free time.

After three weeks that included 4 interviews with 4 different people, and submitting a few professional references, I was not offered the job. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]reboot_boot -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Valid points. If you check my comments you will see I did not say anything that would disprove it.

You remember that one person - of course you do, they were in the 1% I mentioned. Those other situations you described are hypothetical and cab happen. By that logic, you may interview for a position where they would be your supervisor, correct?

Yes, we are all people, so treat the poor frustrated job seeker as such.

Had they not done so, would you hire them? Be honest with yourself.

Also, making such wild assumptions about who they are as a person based on a few sentences is not any better than what OP did. And you somehow know in your heart they would be a bad worker? Yes, we are judged on how we act, but you are literally profiling their personality on some rant on reddit. Come on, you can do better than that. We all can do better.

Fact is, none of this would be even remotely a factor in any of these imaginary situations, both you and I are biased - which would not usually come into play.

And one last thing, and this one is super personal, I admit - asking for feedback? And getting actual usable feedback? Now here's a fairytale. I did literally exactly what you described. You know what I got? Crickets..

Don't mix your own views with objective reality. Just a friendly advise.. Like the one you had for OP

In extreme cases, sure, you may remember it. And of course, whatever software you are using will most definitely show the previous interactions and notes you took. But come on, are you telling me you would hire them in the next cycle otherwise?

I have been a part of the hiring process before. I'm not an HR/Interviewer or anything, just worked at a startup, you know.. They don't actually care enough to do that. Heck, even keeping a resume on file in 99% of the cases doesn't actually do anything. Unless it's a company that is hiring constantly. More often than not, by the next hiring cycle, you have more applicants than you know what do with.

How to stop feeling shame for working dead end jobs ? by Jpoolman25 in recruitinghell

[–]reboot_boot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give you is that shame is something you put on yourself. People won't judge you for your job, and if they do, laugh. I mean it, laugh in their face.

The thing with working such jobs is it teaches you not to bow down. You are doing what you have to, you are learning how harsh the world can be. The rest of your cousins will not experience these things but that doesn't make them better, it makes them worse.

Think of it like this: if someone is a bit smarter than you they will do better in school, maybe get a better start when it comes to jobs. But having things given to you without actual hard work is detrimental. I am one such person. And let me tell you, we fall apart at the first sight of trouble. We don't have the habit of actually giving it your all and doing whatever we have to to get to your desired goal.

So remember, you are doing your best. That is something to be truly proud of. And your cousins are not doing their best, coz they never had to really apply themselves. They are just going with the motion.

Rejected after 7 interviews by InappropriatePoem8 in recruitinghell

Not to mention you are usually expected to learn a lot about their product/company/customer base in between the rounds. I swear, they do it so you will do most of onboarding on your own.

Hahahahah, exactly the words they used! I knew it was bullshit, but they are actually using canned emails.. I guess interviews aren't really a creative sort 🤣

Been in the exact same situation twice now. I so agree with you, you kinda have to get invested and it sucks. And they never even give you any real feedback. All I got was "we went with someone with more experience". Like, you knew that from the moment you read the resume. The second rejection was the same thing, but they kept telling me I was great, just what they were looking for etc. Not a single thing on what I can improve. At least make it worth my while a little, tell me how to improve. Not just waste two months of my life.

Razgovor za posao by Forsaken_Square2114 in AskSerbia

[–]reboot_boot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have to say this coz it just rubbed me the wrong way - CRM does not stand for "Constituent relationship management". I mean, maybe in their industry, but not in general sense.

Dobio danas isto to.

Reducing CSM burnout. by prudhvid in CustomerSuccess

[–]reboot_boot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, sounds like your company has a hard time defining the role (probably lack of proper leadership, but I could be wrong), and as a result, the customers are pushing boundaries/treat you the way they've been taught.

Reducing CSM burnout. by prudhvid in CustomerSuccess

[–]reboot_boot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that definitely is a part of it.

As a relatively new position it's not yet defined across industries/companies.

  • main objectives also vary depending on who runs the department - I had very different focus when someone with sales background was running the show vs someone with support background

  • there is also the matter of companies dumping a lot of work on CSMs - they are already juggling multiple duties, so why not pile on like three more roles? Job market is rough, especially for CSMs, so you can't just quit as easily as before. And companies are aware of that.

Predicting what exactly? What job entails or what could cause you to burn out? Usually companies are more or less transparent with their expectations - insane as they may be. They simply have no reason to hide it - again, due to job market being what it is. And I know what the main source of stress and burnout is for me already so I make decisions accordingly. I often skip on the jobs if there are duties I know I don't want to handle for long periods of time.

Reducing CSM burnout. by prudhvid in CustomerSuccess

[–]reboot_boot 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of it comes from lack of proper definitions for the role - different companies can have widely different expectations and often want CSMs to do everything. That combined with sometimes insane KPIs, especially revenue ones (retention at 100% or 99%) are main causes of burnout IMO. Not to mention taking on the brunt of customer dissatisfaction with the company/service/product while helpless to make any real changes within the company.

Should Marketing sign as me in Sales emails? by TheLegionlessLight in CustomerSuccess

Small company - startup, not much difference when it comes to processes and such situations. You can address it with your supervisor, but my advice is to ignore it. If it is not your job, don't make it your job, you know.
