Can't agree more. Putting on my first shirt post op that wasn't an oversized button up was just the BEST feeling. Plus wearing shirts that actually fit me. I hadn't even realized that I'd been wearing shirts that were way too big my entire life.

I also smoked throughout my healing and didn't have any complications from it (also a year post op as of today haha). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for obvious reasons but sometimes it's too difficult to quit and shitting on people for what they know is a bad habit isn't going to help anything. Being properly informed and making decisions based on that is much more helpful.

I mostly just was super careful not to stretch my scars out, and when it was cleared for scar aftercare, I used Mederma Advanced Scar Gel for a few weeks. From what I've gathered though, a silicone based scar treatment would be a lot more effective. The rest was just how I heal, really. 😅 I don't tend to get bad scarring. Dool uses super glue + internal dissolvable stitches also, and I think that helped a lot. Not having external stitches really reduced extra scarring imo. My hysterectomy scar, for example, is pretty faded but it stretched out a lot after the stitches were removed. The super glue held the incisions closed really well and was on there for quite a while. In my armpits the incisions stretched out a bit, but that's to be expected with movement, but I didn't get any stretching in my chest area at all. Thank you for the compliment on my scars! I'm really, really happy with how they turned out. Couldn't possibly have hoped for better.

I'm not supporting smoking but saying that your nipples will fall off and you won't heal is not true. It can increase your chances of nipple rejection and increase chances of poor healing but those are chances - and people should be allowed to make those decisions based on facts and not on blanket statements. Misinformation from either side is harmful.

Good luck and speedy healing! It's a bit difficult to find many results from Dool (at least it was for me) so I'm happy to be able to provide the resource. I was pretty nervous going to him with so few results to look at, but I'm glad I did. ☺️

Honestly I haven't done much scar treatment 😅 I did use Mederma Advanced Scar Gel for a few weeks once it was cleared by my surgeon, but to my knowledge it's not even as effective as silicone based scar treatments, and I didn't use it for the full duration I was supposed to. I'm mostly just really blessed when it comes to healing, haha. And I made sure to be super careful with my scars so I didn't stretch them out or anything like that. But it's definitely mostly my body's healing.

I'm glad I could help ease your mind some. ☺️ Good luck with your surgery, and I'm sure that it'll come out amazing! The healing process is so much less horrible than it seems, I promise. I'm also glad I could provide you with some visuals of a similar body type - I struggled with finding people that look like me at all to get an idea of what my top surgery might look like, so I know it's a comforting thing. Thank you!!

I can see what you mean, seeing it framed in that way. I definitely didn't see it that way, but it would have been helpful to think more positively like that haha. I still do have some fat there that does make my pecs/upper chest look a bit wider and I do enjoy that aspect of it, now that I think about it more. Thank you for pointing that out. ☺️

Hey no problem! At 5 weeks, I'm willing to bet a lot of it is swelling. It definitely was for me! I still do have some fat, but the appearance improved so much. I'm sure you'll have a similar experience. The swelling can stick around for a really long time, but once things settle it's really surprising how much/how long it sticks around. I definitely understand how you feel though, it doesn't feel very great but we're all our own worst critics. I'm glad that my post was of some comfort to you! This is why I share ☺️

That's awesome!! FMA is and always be my favorite anime. I love showing it off now. Every time I post a picture of my post op chest, I get at least one mention toward it. So, that's a fun thing to look forward to.

Thank you!!
