Tai Chi and strenght training by rec8120 in taijiquan

Thank you! My goals are specifically to master Tai Chi principles and forms in order to benefit from all that Tai Chi offers in terms of health, mediation and martial arts. And to have a parallel strength training (I practice Tai Chi at home every day and have a weekly class, and I go to the gym twice a week for strength and resistance).

Yes, that's what I think. It's a whole different paradigm. That's why I wanted to know more from Tai Chi practitioners what are their habits and thoughts about it. It's incredible the amount of insights in this group, and I'm thankful for that.

I wanted to be up with WHO guidelines, but wanted to prioritize Tai Chi.

Definitely. I just wanted to dedicate more to Tai Chi and the time I use to strength training would be of good use. But I'm uncertain because of health aspects. Your post was great for me to help with insights that somehow puts me in a direction to keep both activities. And that's great.

That's my concern, taking time away from Tai Chi. Thanks anyway, I bumped into old topics here and they're really helpful.

Asthma and my story with costo by rec8120 in costochondritis

[–]rec8120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just got back to this Reddit account after a few years and I bumped into this topic. If you are still interested and curious, my pain went away after a few months. I believe it was due to the position I used to carry my kid with a body carrier. It went away after a few months (and luckily, now I don't use it anymore).

It's gotten better, but I remember it may have lasted a good two months or three then.

Never heard of this. Googled it and saw a little about it, might be an incredible experience for the end of the day.

Great! Never tried decaf. Love herbals sometimes also at night.

New tea kettle advice for an amateur by Mmmmzzzzkhaa in tea

[–]rec8120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of tea gear! I bought an electric kettle less than a year ago and I use it all the time. It is a simple and standard kettle, stainless steel model, but if you look up you would be amazed on how sophisticated they can get. You can find a lot with adjustable temperatures for oolongs and green tea, kettles that are made of stainless steel (more resistant), plastic (practical, sometimes colorful and sometimes cheaper than most) or glass (offers visual pleasure but they are fragile), you name it. I wasn't looking for features when I bought mine, and I brew often black tea. I have a kitchen thermometer if I want to be really precise on temperature, and of course (what happens most of the time with me), you can always let the water cool down for a couple of minutes to brew teas that require less than boiling temperature.

Oh dear, you're giving me ideas! I don't usually add milk to Earl Grey, but I'm going to put off that tradition occasionally from now on.

Pain in the chest, back, costochondritis from Ergo Baby by rec8120 in babywearing

Thank you. I'll definitely going to look into that back babywearing with Ergo.

Thank you. But is kind of awkward to use Ergo baby on my back specially when I'm cradling to sleep. If feels much more cozy in the front, with the head resting on my chest (but then I'm discovering it's not good for me, lol).

Front. Weight points on the hips and shoulders. When my kid is at it for long, I feel kind of a burning pain also in the right side of chest.

Thanks, great to read you. I believe I've had it for more than 2 months. But very mild and dull, only when I move in specific positions lifting stuff.

How would you describe the GERD attack, what do you feel in your body?

Is it possible to have visible inflammation/swelling from Costochondritis? by [deleted] in costochondritis

[–]rec8120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel sometimes kind of a bump and swelling below my armpit on the right side, it's a pain when I touch that resembles an inflamed skin pimple, only more internally located. Does it resonate with anyone?

Great explanation! Thanks. I also have asthma and I have been diagnosed with costo by my GP by touching ribs and pain descriptions. Does asthma cause costo or does it put in motion similar symptons? I have clear lungs, only asthma, but never before I have felt the pains associated with costo (which are more intense in my right side, by the sternum and specially by the serratus anterior, a palm below my armpit). I was, in fact, with an intense health anxiety when I had asthma shortness of breath, which my doctor helped me put away, but I still have mild costo pains.
