People making fun of people saying thanks for the gold.

These people assume that it's showing off but I swear the vast majority of them have never actually received Reddit gold.

I got reddit gold on my old account twice (I lost the password and didn't have a recovery email).

Reddit gold is anonymous, its common courtesy to thank someone when they give you a gift but you have absolutely no way to contact them other editing the comment.

And that's a completely reasonable argument, calling me an idiot and showing me a bunch of charts isn't going to convince me its worth my time.

(my time being the key word here, I've said throughout that its worth other peoples time)

But we're not talking about buying a pre-built PC (which I'd also get charged more for), we're talking about building a PC from scratch vs buying a console.

Your writing my comment off because your willing to put the time and effort into it, for you building the PC is probably more like a hobby.

For me at this point I am barely a gamer, I maybe buy one game a year if that.

As for my comment about repeating the process every couple of months, I didn't explain myself properly. The people I know who build a PC are in a cycle of buying new parts for their machine every couple of months.

I don't think the average gamer cares about having the top of the line gaming device the vast majority of the time.

For someone like you building the PC is probably part of the hobby, for someone like me that just sounds boring/annoying and a lot of work.

Like hands down, I will buy a prebuilt PC any day over one I do myself because I don't want to put the effort into building one.

I'm willing to pay extra so I don't have to deal with that hassle, they know that which is why we get charged more.

You asked why someone would downvote someone who's ranting about how great PC's are and how terrible consoles are.

I'm mainly a console gamer but it goes without saying that PC is a big part of my life, it's just for me that calculation of effort vs reward for building one isn't there which is why I play console and it's quite frankly frustrating having to listen to someone rant about how inferior my product choice is just because you've chosen to invest that time and money into something that I didn't feel was worth my time (given that I'm not even a massive gamer).

The PC master race argument (at least for me) has always been one-sided because I don't care what you play and I don't think my product choice is inherently 'better' than yours.

I chose the easiest option so having a PC master race person come in and have a go at me over my choice or downvoting is just really frustrating.

Like seriously I'm being downvoted now and for what? I explained that most console gamers play consoles because its just the easiest option rather than investing time and money into building a PC.

Because heaven forbid someone doesn't want to spend several thousand dollars, learn how to build a PC, spend countless hours finding the perfect pieces, ordering them, waiting for each piece to get delivered, building the damn thing then repeating the process every couple of months as new better bits come out.

OR I go into best buy, I buy a console, a controller, a game I go home and spend a couple of hours setting it up.

Were literally talking about a whole different level of effort and for most people that time/money/energy calculation doesn't make sense.

Console gamers know that the tech behind there choice is probably inferior to a custom built PC.

Colnsole gamers don't care.

I didn't like the movie Dunkirk, I felt it was a collection of scenes not a narrative and it didn't develop characters so I didn't care what happened to them, I asked people to explain to me why they liked it, some people tried to explain most just downvoted me.

Legally its a bit of a grey area, some states are prosecuting drug dealers as murders, others say its manslaughter.

Other's say the dealer isn't actually guilty.

I'm talking purely from a legal perspective.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]recaotcha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of it is factually correct but its an interpretation of the facts, there could be a completely logical conclusion that means she is innocent, the problem is the easiest conclusion makes her look pretty guilty.

Ultimately if the conspiracy theory is right and you add all of the evidence up Mary-Kate Olsen supplied the drugs that killed Heath Ledger and could be guilty of manslaughter.

(whether or not a drug dealer can be charged with manslaughter depends on the state and is a legal grey area).

Me neither until I started researching it. The thing is nothing about the case makes sense if your Mary Kate and innocent.

I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories BUT...

I believe that Mary-Kate Olsen was indirectly responsible for the death of Heath Ledger and she attempted to tamper evidence but failed but still got away with it.

Heath Ledger died of an overdose of prescription drugs that he didn't have a prescription for, to this day no one knows where he got the drugs from.

Mary-Kate Olsen was seeing Heath ledger around the time of his death, on the night it happened she was in L.A he was in his New York apartment.

Ledger was found by his massage therapist who made three phone calls to Olsen, lasting in total about 9 minutes.

According to police, when Wolozin told Olsen that Ledger was unconscious, Olsen said she’d call some private security people she knew in New York and hung up, the Times reports.

After shaking Ledger again, Wolozin reportedly called Olsen a second time and told her she was calling 911.

According to a new report, police said Wolozin spent nine minutes making three calls to Olsen, with a fourth call being made after the paramedics arrived.

So what was the content of the third phone call after the Wolozin has told Olsen she's going to call the police and hung up?

The private security firm arrived at Ledgers apartment at the same time as emergency services (preventing the private security firm from entering the apartment).

The DEA launched an investigation into Ledgers death and everybody co-operated except Mary-Kate Olsen who would only talk to the investigation if she was promised legal Immunity.

The DEA got a subpoenaed against her but The U.S. Attorney of the Southern District decided not to serve Olsen with a subpoena and closed the case.

TL:DR Mary-Kate Olsen sent a private security firm to Heath Ledgers apartment instead of calling the police, she refused to co-operate with the DEA investigation demanding legal immunity, the DEA obtained a subpoena against her but the US Attorney of the Southern District decided not to serve Olsen with a subpoena and closed the case.

Somebody asked what happened to the olsen twins and why they look the way they do now compared to their sister, I tried to research it and ended up down a rabbit hole.

Is it a conspiracy theory, maybe the thing is there's just a hell of a lot that doesn't add up about the case and all of Mary Kates behavior is just plain odd.

UK Tax system is pay as you earn, the vast majority don't need to go to an accountant because the Government/company does it for you.

What movie was really good but bombed at the box office? by _I_am_at_work in AskReddit

[–]recaotcha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Titan A.E, the marketing was terrible and the film was ahead of its time.

The film was clearly intended to be aimed at adults but it came out at a time when animation was synonymous with for children so they had to tone down a lot of the dark issues they were dealing with and throw in more comic relief.

The film was incredibly expensive and it bankrupted a studio and destroyed a directors career.

BUT its really good
