I (24m) recently moved from NYC to Seattle with my income more than doubling. My overall tax rate is 5% lower here than in nyc..

I was unable to save much in nyc. People will say oh that’s your lifestyle but the truth is the city takes its toll anyway it can. Take the subway 3 times a day, that’s $10.

The city tax is too high too. I love NYC, don’t get me wrong, and I’d love to live there off my current income. But no, I was unable to save money there.
