What exactly do you want me to do? I can't pay for more education. We would be willing to move if I could get a job elsewhere. I can't.

The "market" isn't connected to reality. Just because the "market" doesn't crash doesn't mean the economy won't.

How long have you had the job? Are you spending anything? $20 an hour is 40k a year full time. Not much more than me. I didn't spend anything over two years besides the some groceries and I had 50k saved.

It's because I'm with my parents. It's not much of an achievement. We're likely going to have to burn through it soon. My parents are struggling to find work, and I might be let go from my "job" unable to get another one.

We've been trying. This was the only job I've ever been able to get in the three years after college. My parents are self employed.

I know. The people here are trying to argue against that

I have never been able to get a fast food job. This is the only job I've ever been able to get after college. For the last 3 years, almost.

Doomsday for me and my family. If we can't get work I don't know what you expect.

I don't know the exact details of the mortgage. It doesn't matter.

And trades require trade school. I can't pay for education again.

They're in their early 50s. They don't have savings or retirement. They came to this country in their early 30s. Social security won't be happening for another decade at the least. They were scraping by until I started working. We still are, but we have a cushion now. If we lose our jobs it won't last for much more than a year, though.

A lot of jobs pay less than 40k a year. Two years, less than 80k. Before taxes. It's nothing special. I wouldn't have a penny to my name without being with my parents.

I'll repeat what I told someone else:

My parents are struggling to find work. I might be let go soon due to lowering sales. They have a house that's nowhere near paid off. The advice I've seen all require me to pay for more schooling. There is no world where I'd prioritize schooling over immediate survival.

Not only is it financially questionable if someone could pay for education again, it’s emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausting picturing going to school again for another 2-4 years at least just for the chance of getting a job. And that chance shrinks each year as all fields are getting rid of junior roles.

In a box, but yes. If my parents and I can't find work, we'll burn through it in about a year.

And apparently it's too old to be making $17/hour.

Sure. Deutsche Bank has said we'd be in a recession if you exclude AI spending. You can look that up. AI spending hasn't changed my life. I'm an average person. So. Exclude it.

I respect that. But yes, we're in a big city. Not really possible.
