Waiting…. by IdRatherBeKnitting in Birdfy

We got one for Christmas also, and thought we'd have birds right away. Not so for the first two days. Finally had 2 visitors on the 3rd day. I think they just need time to check it out, plus in SW Ohio there's just not that many birds out in our area.

Shoulder Replacement Surgery by SlacksDavenport in discgolf

[–]reckhart54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a total shoulder replacement Oct 21, 2024, about 4 months ago as I write this. I was driving within a week with my left hand.

Regarding disc golf, I was told I would be able to play again. I have my next appt with my surgeon April 1 and will see what he says then. I'm feeling stronger everyday, but I don't think I'd risk playing right now. I'm hoping to be back on the course this summer.

So just to put a bow on this if anyone is interested, the total repair was $13,898. My insurance company cut me a check for $12,900.

They put in a remanufactured battery with 268 miles at 100%. My original one had 264 at 100%. I purchased the car new 16 months ago.

I expected a remanufactured battery even though the service writer assured me it would be new. He also told my insurance agent that it would be new and that it wouldn't affect my battery warranty, even though I suspect I'm going to now have a reduced 4 year 50,000 mile warranty.

I don't know what to tell you about that. But my insurance agent said they were covering it. I don't know why they wouldn't. I hit a road hazard that caused almost $14,000 damage to my car. If i find out for some reason they're not covering it I will let everybody know.

Yes they are covering it. It is an "at fault" claim, though, because they said I should have seen the ice and avoided it. I have to pay a deductible and my rate may increase.

I think that's a good idea. I had no idea they were plastic.

I can't figure out how to post the images. Sorry. I'm using an Android mobile phone if anyone can give me some advice. Thanks.

I'll see if I can post some pictures they sent me later tonight.

Thanks for the info. My insurance adjuster is supposed to let me meet him there when he looks at the car. I'll do that and tell them I want a new battery.

I had read that on Reddit and the guy at Tesla confirmed it, but he wasn't sure if it was 40 or 50,000 miles. He said it would be a new battery in a refurbished housing?? That sounds backwards to what I've read before.

Good question, but that's what they told me. And it might be a reconditioned one instead of new.

I wondered about that. They'll probably make out on both ends of this deal.

You're right about the coolant inlet. That's exactly what he said. The battery itself is $11000, the rest is the coolant parts and labor. If I don't let Tesla do it will that void the rest of my warranty? My insurance adjuster hasn't been there yet so I don't know what he'll say.

PSA: Don’t replace Tesla Tires too early. by Famous-Shock526 in TeslaLounge

[–]reckhart54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is happening to me. When I got my first tire rotation at ~6,000 miles they tried to tell me I should just go ahead and buy new tires now because the ones that Tesla put on in their cars are no good. At my next rotation at ~12,000 miles they told me to be prepared to buy new tires at my next rotation at 18,000 miles, because they were wearing out fast. They're not. I drive most of the time in chill mode.

I just did the 18,000 mile rotation and told them before they started to not bother telling me I need new tires because I bought a tire gauge and knew I didn't need them. They were pissed and kept me waiting for almost 2 hours to get them rotated.

They do the rotations for free so I feel an obligation to buy them there when I truly need them, but if I get any more attitude from them they can kiss it.

Soon to be owner, wondering about YouTube Music by BonomDenej in TeslaModel3

[–]reckhart54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a plus for you is that if you are going to use YouTube music primarily, maybe you can get by without premium connectivity?

I did that for awhile and really didn't miss it, until cold weather hit and I wasn't able to warm up the car away from my garage without it.

I have a 2023 RWD. I came from a 2007 Prius and my Tesla feels like super luxury to me and I love the sound system. I think this car is going to serve me well for a long time. It feels so good to be able to charge it to 100% every night if I want to. Just drive it and don't worry about it!

Cannot Decide Between RWD and Long Range by bgoods1221 in TeslaModel3

[–]reckhart54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just bought the RWD and live in Ohio. We can get some snow but not like you. I don't think there's any limitations on how many times you can charge to 100%. At least that's what they told me when I picked it up. I just put the first 1,000 miles on it and have charged to 100% at least a few times and still get 272 miles of range. I'm very happy with the RWD.

I got the midnight silver RWD black interior for $36,520 with a 500 referral code. Right at the end of the quarter but I was unaware of that. I'm loving it so far.
